Overall Rationale: My ranking is based off of a computer poll that awards a skill level by minimizing variance in game outcomes. My preseason rankings are built off of a svm (with an rbf kernel) trained on previous performance and recruiting information. Editorial: 1. I added in coaching changes to my preseason predictor, but it didn't improve things. 2. It seems to not like teams that suddenly have done better this year. e.g. UCF and UGA. These teams will be better represented after a few games have gone by and the computer knows that they will be better this year.
