Overall Rationale: Only two games in so only ranking undefeated teams (also partially due to not being able to see teams like FSU and Florida play). This will probably change next week. Teams that just missed my rankings are Navy, Air Force, Vanderbilt, UCF, CMU, Florida, FSU, Auburn, Stanford, and Notre Dame
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Oklahoma Sooners | Just WOW. OU overwhelmed Ohio State AT Ohio State. Very impressive game so they take over the number 1 spot. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Taking care of business as they should. OU was just too impressive to ignore. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Good enough win over Cinci. Still believe Michigan can stay as a top 5 team |
| USC Trojans | Definitely surprised by this one. I had USC at 20 last week and expected the score to be flipped in Stanford's favor. The Darnold showed why he is a promising NFL prospect by taking care of business at home. |
| Clemson Tigers | Squeaked out a win over Auburn at home. Based off how I rank other teams, I feel like I should have Clemson lower, but I believe Auburn is a good team. I also believe Clemson can stay in the top 5 teams if not top 10 at least. |
| LSU Tigers | Two dominant wins so far for the Tigers. Looking forward to the Miss St game for a real challenge vs a promising Bulldog team. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Taking care of business vs a rival that beat them the year before.  |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Strong offense and hopefully the defense can stay strong. They should be able to take care of Pitt easily next week, so that the TCU game can be a exciting rank match. |
| Virginia Tech Hokies | I still believe WV was a solid victory, but the Hokies won't be getting another real challenge until the Clemson game and MAYBE the Old Dominion game. |
| Louisville Cardinals | Lamar going to Lamar. Showing why he is a Heisman winner and candidate this year. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Wisconsin has looked good, but honestly expected a better victory over FAU who was demolished the week before. Want to see Wisconsin beat better competition before I put them in my top 10. |
| South Carolina Gamecocks | The Gamecocks are looking good again. Beat a hyped NCState team and beat Mizzou away in a convincing fashion. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Great away victory in a difficult game like Notre Dame. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | Great victory away at Arkansas. Poor Austin Allen |
| Duke Blue Devils | Duke quietly demolishing two games in a row and looking to take advantage of a weak Baylor team next week. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Both easy victories. I actually think the Vanderbilt game should be a good game since Vandy has seemed decent through two games. |
| Minnesota Golden Gophers | PJ Fleck appears to be figuring things out with a dominant away P5 victory. However, Oregon State doesn't seem to be much of a competition.  |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | Close away rivalry win vs Iowa State. I believe Iowa is a good team, but want to see more games completed to back that up. |
| UCLA Bruins | Convincing win over Hawaii. Interested to see what they do against their next P5 opponent. Either Stanford or Colorado should show what type of team this is. |
| Washington Huskies | Washington honestly probably is good and might be worthy of being a top 10 team, but I need better competition to figure that out. Rutgers doesn't appear to be a good win right now. Had to drop you down from 11 in favor of better teams/resumes so far. |
| Maryland Terrapins | Easy win vs Towson. Interested to see what UCF and Minnesota are like. Those games should say a lot about all 3 teams. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Wake Forest, like Duke, are quietly winning their games in convincing fashion. Would be cool if they could win their next two and be ranked vs FSU. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Easy win. Florida should be a good game. Will let me know more about both teams. |
| Washington State Cougars | Close win over Boise State who usually isn't a slouch. Could stay ranked until the USC game. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | Fitz looking like a solid young QB for the Bulldogs and they took care of business vs a LT squad who usually isn't a easy win. Wow they have a hard stretch of games coming up with LSU @Georgia and @Auburn. |
