Strong schedule. Underwhelming performance against a good App State team; Strong performance against a decent VT team. |

meh. gotta move em up but VT had 5 fumbles in that game. UT will get their chance too, they'll have to finally beat Florida for any of this season to matter |

Right near the middle of the top 25 seems perfect. Don't quite know how good they are since VT continually shot themselves in the foot. When VT wasn't beating themselves they were driving at will in the first quarter. Still though, Tennessee capitalized and won by 20+. |

The Appalachian State game may have been an aberration, but Tennessee did exactly what they need to against Virginia Tech. The biggest issue: much of their success came on TOs, which, while a part of the game and certainly a defensive strategy, doesn't speak to team ability as much as a clean, but close, win.  |

I was semi-vocally against your hype to start the season.  And at the beginning of the Bristol game I was feeling confident I was still correct.  But unfortunately for me, you made me eat my words.  Now you have a solid victory over a P5 team and a shaky but still a win over App St who I believe will be good again this year like they were last year. |

Tennessee's victory against Virginia Tech in the Battle at Bristol was well deserved, but not necessarily for great reasons if you're a Vols fan. A 31-0 run in the middle of the game showed the Tennessee offense isn't as woeful as it appeared in week one against Appalachian State, but much of that was the result of Virginia Tech's fumbling problems. The jury is still out on Tennessee. |

They should have lost to Appalachian State, but they didn't. Their win over Virginia Tech started out a bit shaky but they looked much better by the end.  |

It came down to either ranking these guys or Georgia, and I'll be damned if any team who plays that poorly against an FCS team. Neither one seems all that impressive yet though. |
