Maybe (definitely) this is premature, but they play Clemson coming off a buy week. If anyone's got a shot to knock the king off the top of the mountain it's them. They put on a clinic against an admittedly terrible FSU team, and anyone who watched that game can attest to the strength of the 2nd and 3rd strings who were still able to do whatever they wanted against 1st string players. Depth is going to be a huge factor this season, and they seem to have it. If they can grind one out against Clemson in 2 weeks they'll have their hands around the neck of the coastal.   |

Miami at #3 is probably the most contentious part of my poll, but personally I think this is an easy decision. They put away decent opponents in their first 2 games without much trouble, and absolutely demolished an admittedly atrocious FSU. Their performance to date has been exactly what you would expect out of the 3rd ranked team in the country, so that's where they go. |

3-0. Put an absolute beatdown on Florida State this past weekend. Also have a nice win on the road at Louisville.  |

They have certainly looked better.  The question really comes when they face an actually decent team.  FSU is atrocious.  UAB is a better win and Louisville certainly isn't a push-over but some worry on when they face a complete defense.  Clemson in 2 weeks will probably clear a good bit of that up though won't it. |

Really bold, but this Miami team looks different. And it isn't even a talent thing, it's an attitude thing. This is the most focused Miami team I've seen in a very long time, something that historically has been an issue. The offensive talent has been on full display, the defense looks stout. Of all the teams behind 1-3, Miami is the one who has impressed me the most. So I'm going to have the Canes at #5 right now.  |

Miami / Penn State are a wash in my mind at the moment - I'll admit the
FSU win was an impressive margin, but I also don't think very much of
FSU yet. Miami gets the edge for having actual proof and games played, however. |

Tier F 1/6: Pitt and Miami get precedence for playing 3 games each. Miami gets nod over Pitt for beating Louisville by 13, while Pitt only beat them by 3. |
