StFuzzySlippers Ballot for 2026 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 4, 2026, 10:57 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Resume/Eyes/Guts

Almost all of last week's teams held serve, except for Cincinatti and those that faced higher ranked teams. However, there was one other result that really screwed up the resume comparisons: Missouri over Florida. One week after Mississippi State knocked off Mizzou and Florida humbled Ole Miss, Alabama and Missouri decide to humble Miss. State and Florida in return. So first I had to re rank just the SEC teams by themselves to make sense of things, then I fit everyone else in after that.

Furthermore, there were a lot of teams on BYE this week and some unranked teams that had very impressive wins. I could have dropped more teams to promote teams like Arizona and Northwestern, but I opted for consistency from last week until proven wrong.

The only team to drop out is Cincinatti, who was replaced with Missouri.

Rank Team Reason
1 Alabama Crimson Tide There is quite an impressive transitive chain in the SEC right now of Bama > MSU > Mizzou > Florida > Ole Miss > LSU. All of those teams have 1 loss at most and are undefeated against all teams outside of this group, including 5-0 vs p4 ooc.

All of this, combined with just how increasingly dominant UA looks every week, tells me that they're just that damn good.
2 Texas Longhorns Still has the best win of the season over Ohio State, but they're struggles on offense are a bit disconcerting for now.
3 Miami Hurricanes Dominant win vs. Clemson and Wake's continued success gives them the bonafides to jump up.
4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
5 Georgia Bulldogs
6 Indiana Hoosiers
7 Ohio State Buckeyes
8 Utah Utes
9 Ole Miss Rebels One thing stood out to me about the SEC's "great transitive chain"— every team that lost (except MSU) lost on the road. Ole Miss and Florida also had the stress of playing a tough game on the road *after* a hard win the previous week. I took that into account when amending the order.
10 Texas Tech Red Raiders
11 LSU Tigers
12 BYU Cougars
13 Missouri Tigers It's a high jump from unranked to 13, just like Florida last week, but the big win kinda forces it. It's just really hard to drop these 1 loss SEC teams too far when the teams beneath them just don't have the ooc p4 wins to compare.

Also, of the SEC teams that lost on the road, Mizzou's loss to MSU was the most competitive, so they get to jump up the transitive win ladder.
14 Mississippi State Bulldogs Missouri and Minnesota wins look good, and Alabama looks like a demon, so I can't really fault them too much.
15 Florida Gators They are the one team in the Great Transitive Chain that actually doesn't have a good ooc win to anchor them. They're reputation right now depends entirely on they're beatdown of Ole Miss, which I'm already giving ameliorating circumstances for, but I'm not gonna take it away from them.

Long story short, they need to show some consistency.
16 UCLA Bruins
17 Pittsburgh Panthers
18 Iowa Hawkeyes OSU is really good, and they have other good wins. Carry on then.
19 Tennessee Volunteers They have serious issues on offense that need to be solved. Maybe Macintire will be the solution, but it remains to be seen. Defense looks good enough for them to still be formidible if they get a qb who can bare minimum manage the game.
20 Houston Cougars
21 Duke Blue Devils They're ooc p4 win is not aging well, but at least they have one. We'll see if they can hold they're spot over the upcoming weeks.
22 Wake Forest Demon Deacons
23 Oklahoma State Cowboys
24 Oregon Ducks
25 Nebraska Cornhuskers Maybe Arizona or Northwestern should be in this spot instead, but the Huskers were here last week and didn't do anything wrong, so I'm gonna sit with it.

#26 Arizona
#27 Northwestern
