Overall Rationale: This rating is seeded with the results of the /r/CFB preseason poll, which is why it looks relatively normal. I suppose I could mark it 'hybrid' for that reason but it does fit the spirit of a computer rating and helps to produce consistent results that I think are actually useful. At this moment, the preseason poll carries about 50% of the weight - this will diminish each week before finally being removed around the start of November.
Teams are graded on offensive and defensive scales, with grades taking into account the number of points scored, the quality of the opposing unit, and whether the game was won or lost. The offensive and defensive scales are then combined to produce a final rating.
