mgmfa Ballot for 2016 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 5, 2016, 11:38 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Once again, I'm picking as a human in loo of my computer model, which would ideally have 3 games worth of data before making any decisions.Last week I said I didn't like Georgia and Ole Miss, but ranked them at 24 and 23 because wisdom of the crowds. I was wrong about one of them.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Houston Cougars They had the most impressive win in the country, other than maybe Bama. They look scary. No reason to not rank them this high from what we've seen of the other top teams.
Florida State Seminoles They looked straight up dominant in the second half against a reasonably good Ole Miss team.
Clemson Tigers Didn't look great against Auburn. Still a good team, but haven't accomplished as much as the teams above them.
Ohio State Buckeyes
Michigan Wolverines
Stanford Cardinal Struggles with K State, and they can't blame time zones this time. We'll call it rust.
Louisville Cardinals They played well, others didn't. Maybe the ACC is a 3-horse race after all.
Washington Huskies Beating Rutgers isn't that impressive. But they beat a p5 opponent dominantly, so we'll give em some credit.
Wisconsin Badgers They beat a very good LSU team and looked amazing on D. As much as I hate Wisconsin, I gotta give em credit.
Georgia Bulldogs They beat a good UNC team and proved me wrong. Good for them. They've proved more than most of the other ranked teams have.
Oklahoma Sooners They didn't convince me of anything, but Houston is good. I think the Sooners will pick it back up.
LSU Tigers
Iowa Hawkeyes Full discretion, I am a Hawkeye fan. Still, while a lot of t25 teams struggled with bad opposition, Iowa took a commanding lead and took their foot off the gas.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Texas A&M Aggies
Texas Longhorns Give em credit for beating ND in a crazy game.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Texas and ND played to a stalemate, no reason to separate them.
Michigan State Spartans How do you struggle with FURMAN?
Boise State Broncos All aboard the BSU bandwagon.
Oregon Ducks How do you struggle with UC Davis?
TCU Horned Frogs How do you struggle with South Dakota State?
Nebraska Cornhuskers They were one of my dark horse teams, and they looked very good.
Western Michigan Broncos Beating northwestern is kind of a joke, but hey, they were still a good team last year. Let's show some g5 love. if they beat Illinois and Houston stumbles, they might end up in a BCS bowl.
Baylor Bears I didn't think they should be ranked week 1. They played well week 1, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Let's see if it continues.
