CockADoodleBOOM Ballot for 2016 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 6, 2016, 9:15 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Did... did you see the game on Saturday?
Clemson Tigers #2 in my poll last week.
Florida State Seminoles Good win, LSU lost, so they got bumped up.
Michigan Wolverines Obligatory bump.
Ohio State Buckeyes Obligatory bump.
Houston Cougars They were really impressive against OU. There'll be some who put them at #3 or whatever, but I don't want to extrapolate too much from a single game.
Wisconsin Badgers See Houston.
Stanford Cardinal Obligatory bump.
Oregon Ducks Obligatory bump.
Washington Huskies Obligatory bump. I low key wanted to switch Stanford and Wisconsin so the logos would spell out WOW, but that felt inconsistent.
Tennessee Volunteers I just didn't want to be "guy who had Tennessee in his Top 10." I still have hope for them, but man were they bad last week.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish The first team to have lost last week! Notre Dame looked about as good as you can in a non-flukey loss against Texas. I feel good about them and Deshone Kizer (<3) going forward.
Michigan State Spartans Stayed the same from last week, but they were really unimpressive against a mediocre FCS team in Furman. This is probably the last time I get to talk about Furman during one of these polls though so WOO GO PALADINS.
Oklahoma Sooners I think OU will get shat on in the polls this week, but I don't think they were THAT bad against Houston. I'm not super confident that OU can beat Ohio State in two weeks, but that's also why I have them 9 spots lower. I still think OU can beat all the teams below them on the list, so here's where I have them.
LSU Tigers Kinda the same as the OU explanation. It was like watching the 2015 Texans on Saturday; if LSU got even replacement-level QB play, I think they'd have won that game. But they didn't so *shrug*
Texas Longhorns OKAY I PROMISE I CAN EXPLAIN. The Texas hype is going to be huge after this weekend, but I think this is a pretty fair place to but them until we get more data points. If Texas continues to chug along, I'll give them some bump-ups to make up for a relatively cautious Week 2 ranking. For now though, I think this is fair.
Louisville Cardinals I had to bump them down a spot to make room for Texas but they were real good on Thursday. Against Charlotte but still.
Georgia Bulldogs Bump-up for beating a decent P5 team.
TCU Horned Frogs This was a bigger drop than I wanted. TCU wasn't very good against South Dakota State, but probably not "four spot drop" not very good. Them and Georgia are interchangeable in my mind. (btw: Georgia is 3-0 all-time against TCU, with the last meeting taking place in 1988. Thanks, Winsipedia!
Texas A&M Aggies They beat UCLA, who I had ranked. *indifferent shrug*
Oklahoma State Cowboys Same as last week.
Miami Hurricanes Same as last week.
Boise State Broncos Obligatory bump, but don't overlook their destruction of ULL! Boise fucking killed them, Jesus Christ.
Iowa Hawkeyes Obligatory bump.
Toledo Rockets SHOUTOUTS TO THE BADASSES FROM THE MAC FOR BEATING ARKY STATE 31-10 THIS WEEKEND. THEY DESERVE YOUR LOVE AND AFFECTION.Others considered: Baylor, Ole Miss, BYU, and Florida.
