Overall Rationale: Early season polls are largely meaningless so I won't spend too much time looking at advanced stats, etc.  For me the biggest distinguishing factors early on are returning playmakers...a factor that I completely made up and recognize as arbitrary (right now, but I do think it matters in match-ups).

Reason: Deshaun Watson.  I flipped back and forth between Clemson and Alabama, but I think that kind of leadership and play from the quarterback position can't be ignored.  The dude scared Saban so much he called one of the ballsiest onside kick calls I've ever seen.  Alabama's defense has the potential to be special so I'm looking forward to seeing how these two teams play.  |

Ohio State and Michigan are another two that I can see being flipped either way.  OSU has QB experience; Michigan has a defense that should rival the Reagan's Star Wars program.  I went Ohio State because I flipped a coin and Ohio State was heads. |
