Doogitywoogity Ballot for 2026 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 5, 2026, 2:31 p.m.

Overall Rationale: I have curled up into a ball as a more defensive position similar to that of a rolly polly. My tough outer shell will keep me protected. While curled up I thought to myself, “huh I could watch college football in here” and I haven’t stopped since. Here’s what conclusions that has led me to:

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns I’m not ready to move them out of first place, but I nearly pushed Alabama all the way up. That’ll get sorted next week with Alabama-Georgia. I think texas can retain this spot if Georgia wins a tight one and texas makes OU look like an FCS squad. If the offense continues looking good but suspect I may need to reevaluate t.u. and OSU next week.
Ohio State Buckeyes Very important win over Iowa is helping to buoy both texas and Ohio. Maryland shouldn’t be a challenge next week though I do suspect I’ll have the winner of Alabama-Georgia ahead of them off of resume. The Indiana matchup the following week will give them a chance to fight back though. So we’ll see a lot of fluidity up top the next couple weeks I think.
Alabama Crimson Tide Huge win over a MS St team that still has a strong resume with wins over Mizzou and Minnesota. In a couple weeks when I have a bit more time I’ll have to do a deeper dive on these many blowouts to help me figure out how much of it is a mismatch vs luck vs actual skill differences. I’ll happily admit I’m not sure at this point and don’t have the time until the weekend of the 24th to figure that out though.
Miami Hurricanes Beating up Clemson before a bye week that leads to the (probable) beating up of FSU must feel great for Hurricane fans. Hopefully Pitt’s backup is good and that matchup gives them a good rest in a few weeks because it’s still very hard to tell how good this squad is atm.
Georgia Bulldogs A typical Smart style win over an outmatched opponent. Not much to say, still very tough to judge this squad as well. Huge game vs Alabama next week will really inform how this squad is. They’ll likely move a lot either way.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Game was closer than I thought it should be many times, though ND did a good job at maintaining control when UNC got close in the second half. Still hard to judge and Stanford next week won’t tell us too much unless ND struggles. BYU in a few weeks will give ND their first real test.
Indiana Hoosiers Arguably the biggest news for Indiana wasn’t them beating Rutgers. But Northwestern beating Penn State by a lot. I still don’t think it screams contender at this point to have played NW so close, but it certainly doesn’t look as bad. Nebraska will actually be a decent test, I think they’re a good squad though quite flawed, I’ll be looking for Indiana to take advantage of that or if they keep them close like NW.
Utah Utes 😴
LSU Tigers I don’t like having them here, as they haven’t beaten anyone I find compelling, and I have them one ahead of Ole Miss despite the H2H. My logic is that it does seem, at least rn, that Ole Miss was playing their superbowl in that game and barely won. I don’t think Leavitt is elite. I’m not particularly a believer in this squad, but I think they have a higher ceiling than most other squads, and is really one of the few that could challenge the big dogs. I’ll be happy if I’m wrong, it would be very funny to watch them flounder, but at the moment I get the impression they’re actually a good squad.
Ole Miss Rebels Man it’s a few things with yall. That Florida loss looks worse, the Louisville win looks worse. The LSU win looks less compelling to be the ground state and not the peak, but maybe I’m overreacting? I’m only keeping yall this high because I’m not really sure and want to see more from yall. I also don’t quite know what to make of Louisville. I think they’re a high chaos team though so it makes this whole thing tough. I do know that the Ole Miss runs defense needs to stiffen up considerably for me to take them seriously.
BYU Cougars You know I didn’t watch this game, but good lord. TCU isn’t good, you only won by 7. Seems like a very ground heavy game in the wet so I don’t want to overinterpret too much but I haven’t been particularly impressed with BYU yet this season.
UCLA Bruins Probably one of my more controversial spots, but I like this UCLA squad. They have a huge matchup vs Oregon so we’ll know next week if I’m delusional.
Iowa Hawkeyes I really don’t change my opinion of Iowa all that much after that loss. They’re roughly the squad I think they are, which is a potential playoff squad when things go well. Friday night at Washington will be a challenge though, even if Washington isn’t a world beater this year. On the road, multiple time zones away, on a short week, in a loud stadium. Yeah the Hawkeyes will have to prove it.
Duke Blue Devils 😴
Oklahoma State Cowboys 😴
Texas Tech Red Raiders TTU, what is you doing. I’m not a huge fan of dropping squads when they win but that was bad yall. I’ve been unimpressed by this squad all season and this is a continuation. They need to shape up or I’ll move them further down around where Houston is.
Pittsburgh Panthers Hate that they lost their qb, hopefully the backup will keep the train moving along. That was a huge win over VT though, but I’m a bit cautious until we see this new (veteran) qb slot in with this squad as the starter when teams are expecting him. UNC may be a challenge but BC should be easy. All before going to Miami. No pressure
Nebraska Cornhuskers This squad is flawed, but still good. The question is where in the 15-45 range they’ll fall. Rn I’m high on them, but their performance vs Indiana will tell us a lot. Following that up at Oregon is less than ideal though so they’ve got an uphill climb for sure.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Bad loss, I can’t say I know enough about this squad to quantify it beyond that though. The bit I watched they looked confused on offense and that they couldn’t make any stops on defense. So is Alabama that good or is the middle tier of the SEC that bad?
Missouri Tigers More confusion. Great run defense put a stop to my Gators’ hopes and dreams. That does not bode well for my Aggies next week. Really tough judging the SEC and B1G rn. The Mizzou - Ole Miss game in a few weeks will likely be the other half of connecting the pieces.
Virginia Tech Hokies I mean losing a game by a hair sucks. Literally barely out wide to the point there’s conspiracies. But I think this VT squad still shows some good fight. I like where they are. At Cal will likely be hard, though after Cal’s loss to UNLV that’s a bit more odd to say. I think Cal is high chaos though so I’d keep an eye on this one. Though with all the injuries maybe Cal won’t even be high chaos anymore.
North Dakota State Bison I’m a Bizon believer. I don’t care that it’s Wyoming, they shutout their first mano a mano FBS opponent. UNLV this coming week and UNM in a couple are going to be huge for whether NDSU is a playoff contender.
Arizona Wildcats Big big win over Cincinnati who I was pretty high on. Wildcats dominated the bearcats and reminded me why I was high on AZ to start the season. Now they need to not get complacent when they matchup with WVU this week.
Houston Cougars A sick Conner Weigman pulls a great comeback vs Space game rival UCF. I still think highly of this squad but need them to prove it. KState, OKSt, and Utah back to back to back gives them a chance to do so and move a ton in my rankings.
James Madison Dukes Sun Belt Billy is doing well back in his natural environment. The Dukes are building a nice resume despite their losses last year. If they perform vs GaSt and App St, they’ll be the favorites for the G5 spot in the playoffs.
