Select-Edge-3262 Ballot for 2026 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 4, 2026, 12:12 p.m.

Overall Rationale: This week I felt I had to approach things differently. A bunch of teams have at least 1 loss now, and I really had to stop looking at who beat who to decide where teams went in the rankings. And especially with all the teams on bye, I tried to reset and void out a little of my own poll inertia to get to the rankings that I got to. And when I added a little more of my own eye test to this and then compared resumes directly, this is what I ended up with:

Texas, Georgia, stay put. Look good.

OSU was dominant at a legit team in Iowa and with their only loss being at the #1 team in the country by a point, so I think it's very fair to put them at #3. Alabama sneaks in right behind them after a similar dominant victory over a legit team as well.

Miami and Notre Dame are hard to say because they haven't looked great against all their opponents, but have dominated most and still haven't lost. I think we'll truly know which team is better of the two when they play...

The next 3 move up from Florida's loss, and even though BYU's win was not pretty, a road victory is still never easy to come by.

Outside of the top 9 I found it really difficult to rank teams since none of them look super good in any way. Missouri gets my top spot here though since their only loss is to a Mississippi State team that I think is fairly decent.

I hate putting my Tennessee team as high as they are especially with them struggling majorly on offense against Auburn. That said, I really don't see any reason to put some of these other teams who have had their own issues above them, especially when the Vols played Texas so close. However Tech seems to be getting better and is real close to UT imo.

Florida, Ole Miss, LSU are SO hard to tell now because they've all been up and down and now Auburn and especially Louisville both lost so they've only really beat each other. Therefore, they've ended up in my middle-off-the-pack purgatory until further reasoning to move them.

UCLA and State switch after that Bama game wasn't particularly close for the Bulldogs, but their win over Mizzou keeps them from dropping too far.

Nebraska jumps Iowa with their slightly better strength of wins but they're yet another pair of rivals I think are about equal lol.

Houston drops But stays ranked after a terrible start against a pretty bad looking UCF team, but they did pull it out so. 🤷‍♂️

Northwestern joins from solid performances against Indiana, Colorado and now PSU with 2 of those being dominant victories.

The Cowboys jump the Blue Devils despite neither playing as Duke's highest quality win in Illinois just lost to Purdue at home.

-

Which leads me to the Deacs of Wake Forest who move up and ALMOST in because their own slaughter of a win over Stanford and slight resume boost from Purdue.

Wisconsin follows after looking great, Pitt moves up but not in as they have barely beaten all their opponents and have yet to play anyone of any sort of note yet.

Boise, Arizona, and Minnesota all impressed and move up.

And finally, USC and SMU continue to look flat against mediocre competition so I still want to see more before I rank them again.
