Player_1_has_Joined Ballot for 2023 Week 4

Ballot Type: Computer

Submitted: Sept. 17, 2023, 1:59 p.m.

Overall Rationale: My computer ballot begins as strictly a power rating. Over the course of the season, resume begins to be weighted more and more in favor over the power rating aspect. The intention of the ballot is to attempt to predict how the CFP committee will make its selections. Movements in the beginning of the season are a bit wonky and teams that begin very high or low in the power rating don't move as dramatically as they do in other polls. For example, there are some teams like LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, and Texas A&M that are still ranked despite having bad losses because resume isn't weighted enough to drag them down lower on the polls. That being said, with Week 3 being in the books, resume has begun to start playing a bigger role in the ballot. For example: Alabama would be power rated as 3 by my computer but their poor resume moved them down to 7. If using the same weights as last week Alabama would still sit at 3 because there is a bit of a gap between them and the number 4 school power rated (Michigan). Biggest surprise is probably Oklahoma in the top 4 ahead of Texas. Texas has the better resume so I expect Texas to overtake Oklahoma next week even if they both win comfortably.
