Overall Rationale: Resume, record, eye test, head 2 head
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Dominated number 5 and 6 thoroughly. Clearly the best team rn |
| Michigan Wolverines | |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | |
| TCU Horned Frogs | |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Two wins are better than Oregon’s and played UGA closer. |
| Oregon Ducks | |
| UCLA Bruins | UCLA’s one loss is a whooping to #6, but they also have wins over Utah and Washington. Both are ranked teams that UCLA pretty much smacked for 60 minutes. |
| LSU Tigers | LSU might be the hottest team in the country. They have a similar loss as UCLA with a whooping from Tennessee. They have better wins with wins over Bama and Ole Miss. However, their loss over FSU holds them back slightly for me. |
| USC Trojans | USC probably deserves to be ahead of LSU. However, they’re in the same position as last week, only their best win (Oregon State) isn’t ranked anymore. They don’t have any of the statement wins LSU or UCLA do despite their one loss and their defense is the worst of the 3. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Ole Miss has no statement win whatsoever, and their one loss is a 25 point drubbing as opposed to USC losing by 1 point to a 2 point conversion. Ole Miss is only ahead of Bama rn cause they have 1 loss. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Bama’s best win is Texas, who is in my top 20, and I don’t think that win is better than Utah’s win over USC. However, Utah lost to Florida… Plus while I’ve seen that Cam Rising is back for Utah I still don’t know much about other injuries, and no matter what I can’t really deny the clear talent advantage Bama has over them. |
| Utah Utes | Normally I stand by head 2 heads so I would have Utah ahead of USC, but I struggle justifying it after how that win could’ve easily went the other way and while I usually ignore that Utah’s injury problems since concerned me enough to hold them back a bit. |
| Clemson Tigers | Clemson might be worse than this, but the fact that they still have a win over my #17 team AND I just don’t think North Carolina could beat them lands them here for now. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | |
| Tulane Green Wave | Tulane fell back a little because their whole ranking for me depends on how Kansas State is doing, and Kansas State did not do well this past week. I think that Tulane still deserves the top 15 spot tho as of right now. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Penn State doesn’t have a statement win and had some mighty struggles against their top tier opponents. Penn State is dominant against lesser opponents, but I just don’t feel like that justifies top 15 right now. |
| NC State Wolfpack | |
| Liberty Flames | |
| Washington Huskies | Washington is a two loss team and essentially just took Oregon State’s spot after beating them in my ranking. |
| Texas Longhorns | I think Texas is the best 3 loss team. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Kansas State lost to Texas, and I have them ahead of Notre Dame because there not as inconsistent. All their losses are to ranked teams even if they don’t have better wins. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | 2 of Notre Dame’s losses are to terrible teams, but they dominated 3 decent ACC teams (2 of which I have ranked). Also one of those teams they dominated beat Florida State. |
| Florida State Seminoles | Florida State dominated Miami and have been fairly consistent all year. They have a top 8 win over LSU, and 2 of their losses are to top 20 teams. |
| Illinois Fighting Illini | Illinois has two losses so they might deserve a ranking over the 3 loss teams, but Illinois just doesn’t impress me. They don’t have a notable win over anyone as of right now and have two awful L’s. I didn’t want to drop them out completely so they just fall right here. |
| Louisville Cardinals | Louisville dominated Wake Forest and a JMU team everyone thought was a top 25 team a couple weeks ago, and also have beaten UCF. However, Louisville has 2 head scratching losses to Syracuse and Boston College. Syracuse is a decent team, but Louisville lost by 24. I have Louisville behind Illinois because of their overall inconsistency this year. At this point in the ranking it’s hard to rank teams because they’re all flawed or inconsistent. The gap between the teams from #13 onward is really small and hard to rank properly. |
