Their best win is #37 Notre Dame, and that's their *only* top half win (by a technicality, TH wins are top 65 and their next best win is #66 Iowa, but technically true is the best kind of true). The computer looks at them and sees a team that's undefeated, but hasn't really been tested yet. That'll change this week against Penn State, and I expect them to shoot up a few spots next week (obviously assuming they win).

23 Troy Trojans 1.610 // I also feel the need to explain this one, because ranking a 2 loss Sun Belt team in week 8 is… a bit much, even for me and I’m used to seeing these kinds of takes from EQW. Basically, Troy has 3 top half wins and another one that's close, and are pulled up a bit in SOS by playing Ole Miss (that effect will gradually get weaker and weaker as more games are added, there’s a reason I didn’t use this poll at all until week 6). On top of that, the computer's respecting the Sun Belt a good bit in general - it has them #7, but closer to the Big Ten in 4th than to the Mountain West directly behind them in 8th. In fact, the East (not what Troy's in, but it still helps build SOS) is ranked the 7th best division in all of FBS, with a positive average EQW score and ahead of both the B1G West and ACC Coastal. So yeah, that probably helps a bit as well.
