Overall Rationale: Starting week 4 I will be using a points methodology based on outcomes of games. The reason I'm not doing it this week or next is that it will take some time to normalize the results. If I used the points methodology the top 5 would be Nevada, North Carolina, FSU, WKU, and Vandy, who all played in Week 0 and Week 1. Also every team that was in the top 25 last week and either lost or didn't cover the spread is now out of the top 25. That is why I'm going to give this a few weeks to level out. I know these first few weeks are optional but I figure if I can vote I might as well do it. The following is my own personal top 25 and I have included reasons for why everyone is where they are.

Beating #13 Oregon the way Georgia did showed me that Georgia is the best team in the country. While the defense is not as good as last year's, this year's is still going to be very, very good. The offense, meanwhile is one of the best Georgia offenses I have ever seen. Stetson Bennett looks like a legit Heisman contender after going 25-31 for 368 yards and 2 TDs. Georgia started this game a perfect 7 for 7 on scoring drives, only not scoring on their last 2 drives, one of which was just kneel downs to end the game. Georgia is going to be extremely good this year and they have earned my #1 vote. |

Alabama didn't do anything wrong to lose the top spot, it's just that Georgia was that much more impressive. Will Anderson and Bryce Young are still studs and now that Young is running, look out. |

Ohio State put on an impressive display of defense and ground game, especially in the second half, against a very good Notre Dame team. Jaxon Smith-Njigba's injury hopefully isn't serious, but otherwise a good game from the Buckeyes, though I do see room for improvement |

A ho-hum beat down of an FCS team, pretty well expected of a top 4 team. And with Notre Dame and Utah losing, and Clemson struggling against Georgia Tech for three quarters, the 4 spot opens up. |

DJ Uiagalelei is trash. There's really no other way to put it. Clemson looked awful offensively against Georgia Tech, a team that has now been outscored 141-10 over their last three games. If Dabo wants to do anything of note this season, he had better put in Cade Klubnik and fast. |

Michigan moves up thanks to losses ahead of them |

A&M moves up one spot thanks to losses ahead of them, but Michigan looked more impressive in their win so I have the Wolverines jumping them. |

Notre Dame put on an impressive display against Ohio State, even with the loss. I expect ND will bounce back and should be a contender for a NY6 at minimum. |

First game of the Brent Venables era was a success. |

Not the prettiest win, but they are Hogs so you can't always ask them to be pretty. A nice win at home over a ranked Cincinnati who made the playoff last year. |

The Lincoln Riley era in LA has started well. With losses by Oregon and Utah, USC may now be the front-runner in the PAC-12. |

OK State started the game against CMU strong, but gave up a lot of points late. Hopefully this is an exception and not the start of a trend. |

Not a very impressive win over Troy for the Rebels, but I'm still a believer in Kiffin and I don't really want to move them too far down. |

Yeah beating a top 10 team at home in your new head coach's debut will earn you a pretty high ranking. Anthony Richardson is as good as advertised and this Florida team is going to be dangerous. |

Nothing really of note, good job Wiscy. |

Certainly not the start the Utes had hoped for, but they played a good game and still had a chance to win at the end (or at least force OT). The Swamp is one of the hardest places to play in the country and Florida showed us they were better than we expected. Utah should bounce back but keep an eye on them. |

Sparty got off to a bit of a slow start against WMU, but the ended up covering so all's well that ends well |

Tennessee put up the most points by any SEC team this week and looks fairly impressive. Granted Ball State isn't very good but I like UT to do something special this year |

A nice win for the Cougars |

Tough loss at Arkansas, but let's not sound any alarms just yet. Cincy lost a lot and Arkansas should be pretty good this year. Though they may want to tighten those chin straps a bit |

No movement or any real comments. Offense looks worse without Rodriguez at RB |

Wake moves up a spot after Houston dropped out |

Miami also moves up a spot after Houston dropped out |

The only team to be 2-0 in these rankings, a good win over LSU ought to be recognized. |

I originally had NC State here but then I thought about it some more and decided I'd rather put Texas back in. Texas played a good game against ULM but has a huge test this week against the Tide. NC State, meanwhile, did not play well against ECU and should have lost that game. I was not impressed and have decided to remove them from the rankings along with Oregon and Houston. |
