Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: After 1 week, lots of teams moved around. I used my preseason poll as a guideline and adjusted based on actual play this weekend.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Champs and dismantled Oregon. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Clear #2 |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Offense took a huge step back but defense took a huge step forward from last year. They stay #3 for now. |
| Baylor Bears | Move up to #4 with Utah losing. Looked impressive in their win. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Move up 1 spot with Utah losing. Their depth is a concern but the starters hung 50 on CMU very quickly. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Move up 2 spots with ND and Utah losing |
| Clemson Tigers | Move up 3 spots with ND and Utah losing. Also jumping unimpressive NC State. Even though Clemson looked the same as last year through much of their game, they let GT shot themselves in the foot and took advantage. |
| Michigan State Spartans | MSU moves up from 12 to 8 because Utah, ND, And Oregon lost. Also have MSU jumping ahead of NC state from my preseason poll. Lots of talent on MSU, Thorne just looked off in the first game despite throwing 4 TDs. |
| USC Trojans | Moving up because of the teams ahead of them. Took care of Rice without issue. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Moving up because teams ahead of them looking worse/losing. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Shutout victory and looked like typical Wisconsin. |
| Pittsburgh Panthers | Good win against a hated rival. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Hard fought, but still lost. I’ll be more forgiving to them after I see them in their next few games. Hard to really judge them and OSU after that game. |
| Arkansas Razorbacks | Great win against Cincinnati. |
| Texas A&M Aggies | A&M stays exactly where I had them. Jumped by teams that were more impressive, jumped ahead of teams that were less. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Good win against a tough Purdue team.has them moving up 4 spots. |
| Florida Gators | Beat a very good Utah team so they enter my rankings at 17. |
| NC State Wolfpack | Bailed out against ECU, I still think they’re good, but they aren’t the #9 team in the country like I originally had them. |
| Miami Hurricanes | Put up 70 on a FCS opponent. With the talent on the roster and their coach, that’s enough to get me to buy into them being somewhat good this year, |
| Kentucky Wildcats | After a too close for comfort first half, they took care of Bowling Green with was in the second half. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | I liked South MSU and had them ranked #25 last week. They handled Memphis easily after last year’s debacle. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Lackluster win over Troy has them falling 3 spots in my poll. The teams I had jumping them were more impressive. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Beat an FCS opponent 44–10. No reason to adjust their spot. |
| Florida State Seminoles | 2-0 with a win over LSU is good enough reason to add them into the top 25. |
| Utah Utes | Only other team with a loss that I still have ranked. Like Notre Dame, I won’t hesitate to move them back up with more datapoints. |
