Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Sept. 3, 2018, 10:18 p.m.
Overall Rationale: Before you kill me for this ballot (well I'm already probably dead), let me explain my rationale here.Since we just have results from week 1 (and 0), we don't really have much idea how good teams are without actually watching games. And even though I wish I could, I can't watch every game. (Not even every game is on TV.) SOS is also kind of out because of that. And I don't do preseason rankings. So all i'm going to be ranking on this week is MOV, Record and also if you played an FBS or FCS team(s). I'll also weigh teams that allowed less slightly higher, because I feel like it's harder to keep up with a good defense than a good offense. This'll change probably by next week once most teams at least have 2 games. Either way, that wall of text is now done.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Oklahoma Sooners | Win by 49 and not allowing much get them up here. Also RIP Lane Train. |
| Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors | They're the only 2-0 team at this point, and neither of their wins have really been sed out either. However, both of their opponents have scored 30+ on them and CSU also did lose their other game which is like the only little element of SOS there is in the NCAA right now. |
| Arizona State Sun Devils | Won by 42. Also only allowed 7 so that's also good. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | 77 points is really good. Allowing 31 isn't quite as good. Win was still by 46, though. But ASU jumps over them due to allowing 24 less. |
| UCF Knights | 2017-18 National Champs UCF started out with a good 39 point win. Good enough for #5. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Can you go back to not winning the title every year please? 37 point win here, and due to Minnesota's SOS factors they go above Minnesota too. |
| Minnesota Golden Gophers | 38 point win is cool, but NMSU is 0-2, and that does hurt in SOS factors. |
| Boston College Eagles | Win over a 1-1 UMass is probably about the best win you can get at this time. Though I guess their only win was over an FCS team. Oh well.Win was also by 34, and those 2 elements aren't enough for BC to jump Minnesota but enough for them to jump Boise. |
| South Carolina Gamecocks | SEC has 2 teams in the top 10? SEC BIAS!49-15 is a good win with good defense, though. 34 point win. Enough to get over Boise. |
| Boise State Broncos | Won by 36, allowed 20.Yeah I'm running out of stuff to say. They're not even the highest MW team though! |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Allowing 3 points is really good, and lets them up to #11 even though they only won by 31. |
| Oregon Ducks | 34 point win, allowed 24, blah blah blah. Quack. |
| Colorado Buffaloes | Colorado allowed 13, but they played an 0-2 team which hurts them. They did win by 31 though. |
| Vanderbilt Commodores | So both Rutgers and Vandy won by a score of 35-7, a 28 point MOV. Against teams who hadn't played another game, and weren't FCS teams.I decided to pick who I thought was better. Sorry, Rutgers! |
| Rutgers Scarlet Knights | Rutgers ranked? What kind of world is this?35-7 win is good. |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | 33-7 win here, 26 point win puts Iowa here. And Ferentz is still the coach! |
| West Virginia Mountaineers | 7 is smaller than 14. WVU gave up 14 to Tennessee. WVU is lower than Iowa because of that. 26 point win though, still. |
| Washington State Cougars | Beat a team with a win already which is good, won by 22 and allowed 19 though which doesn't get them any higher than this. |
| Virginia Tech Hokies | Won by 21, allowed 3. Enough to get them to here. |
| Stanford Cardinal | Interestingly, Bryce Love got held under 30 yards rushing. But that's beside the point. Stanford won by 21, but only allowed 10 which is why they're up here. |
| Toledo Rockets | Toledo won by 63 against their FCS opponent which is pretty good. Enough to get in the rankings. Above Fresno due to allowing 10 less. |
| Fresno State Bulldogs | A 66-point win against an FCS team gets them here. |
| North Texas Mean Green | North Texas won 46-23, a 23 point win. Also, they exactly doubled up their opponents' points. I'm not sure if that's a good thing for these rankings. |
| USC Trojans | Won by 22, but allowed 21. I guess they more than doubled up their opponents' points? |
| Duke Blue Devils | Hey, that's my team! Won by 20 while only allowing 14, but I wouldn't say that's quite enough to jump USC. |
