CarbonCamaroZL1 Ballot for 2018 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 5, 2018, 1:26 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide No need for explaining.
Ohio State Buckeyes Terrifying offense and the defense hasn't fully gotten into a rhythm yet. However if the offense can learn to stay on the field a bit longer and continue this playcalling, they are going to be a leading contender for a National Championship.
Georgia Bulldogs Shutting out an opponent is no joke, even if it is a cupcake.
Clemson Tigers Looking as strong as ever.
Wisconsin Badgers The score may not have been anything extravagant like some of the SEC teams, however it was never even a consideration that Western Kentucky could come back. The game was over from 2nd quarter.
Auburn Tigers Beating a Top 10 team is difficult and should warrant high ratings, but it was done at home and was a close game. We need to see how good WA is before this can push Auburn's rankings higher.
Oklahoma Sooners Also strong as usual.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Winning a Top 15 matchup (ugh) against us, however they looked awful second half only scoring 3 points. Had Michigan completed better time management, this game could have gone to OT and Michigan would have been on a roll with the defense finally coming alive. Tough to judge what is going on with this one.
Washington Huskies Lost a close one on the road to an elite team. Not going to be moving back very far.
LSU Tigers Blew out a top 10 team. The score looked closer than it ever was due to some last minute push by Miami, but it was never a game.Note* Miami is not in my Top 25 for reasons.
Stanford Cardinal Not the best win, but 2nd half adjustments allowed for no upset.
Virginia Tech Hokies Demolishing a highly rated Florida State team (albeit one with a new coach) is never easy. Doing it at Florida State is even tougher.
West Virginia Mountaineers Nearly tripled the expected score on Tennessee. They deserved this spot.
Penn State Nittany Lions Nearly losing to that team gives slight PTSD as a Michigan fan, however it obviously could have been much worse (see Michigan 2007). PSU doesn't particularly look great, but it's tough to tell with the scare of an always good App State who play to their opponents.
TCU Horned Frogs Blew out the opponent like they needed to.
Michigan State Spartans Barely getting by a cupcake and not looking particularly great doing it. Some bias here, but MSU do not look like a Top 15 team yet but they have the potential to be with Lewerke.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Another scary looking team who might be able to handle Alabama.
UCF Knights The defending co-Champs easily took care of business in Connecticut.
USC Trojans Not a massively convincing score, but they still got the "W".
Michigan Wolverines Some bias here, however Michigan looked good in certain areas, and awful in others. Bad, lackluster playcalling, limited risks and an iffy performance by the defensive ends the first half gives a lot of questioning to this team. The first half the DEs were overshooting the QB way too often. They cleaned it up and took care of ND well the 2nd half allowing only 3 points. The offensive line was torn to shreds by ND's defensive line. Not sure at this point if it was a really good ND Dline, or a really bad Michigan Oline. Remains to be seen.
Boise State Broncos Did what they needed to keep on running away with the MW.
Oregon Ducks Had an insane 2nd quarter that locked the game in early on.
South Carolina Gamecocks Handily took care of business. Now on to a big matchup against a Top 5 Georgia team.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Handled Missouri State very well posting up multiple TDs each quarter Big 12 style.
Florida Gators Did quite a bit of damage to Charleston So.
