Similar to the above, a 3 point loss to the #2 team deserves the respect. Their ranking is somewhat tied to BYU, but at the same time they are also padding their resumes with great wins against good teams in conference. The easiest stretch of their schedule is left and then off to the ACC champ game assuming no hiccups.

They've had a few sketchy games (Duke and Nevada), but their wins over Louisville, Pitt, and (to a lesser degree) TCU bolster their resume above all the 2-loss teams to #7. It helps that BYU is still undefeated and SMU gave them a ride in that game.

I'm really high on SMU. I think they are such a solid team with only one loss, which is to undefeated BYU. I don't see this team having much of an issue the rest of the regular season.

Can’t fault a team for staying winning and their only loss keeps looking better and better
