redrumsoxLoL Ballot for 2026 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 8, 2026, 4:25 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State completely dominated Ball State on Saturday. They are the team I had #1 in the preseason and they performed how you'd expect a #1 team to play.
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia took care of business as expected against FCS Tennesee St and remain #2 on my list.
Texas Longhorns Texas was expected to win against Texas State, but they outperformed most expectations by twinning 59-7. This moves them up on my list.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Note Dame looked strong as expected against Wisconsin. This win could wind up looking even better depending on Wisconsin's remainder of the season.
Miami Hurricanes Miami looked very strong against Stanford on Friday night. Darian Mensah got off to a good start on a potential Heisman campaign with this one. The manner of this victory raised them on my list a couple of spots.
Oregon Ducks While Oregon did eventually secure the victory, they did underperformed expectations against Boise St and therefore fall down my list a few spots.
Indiana Hoosiers Indiana defeated North Texas as expected. A good start for the Hoosiers as they look to repeat as champions.
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss is the only team in the nation with a ranked win so they jump up a few spots
Alabama Crimson Tide Bama dominated an ECU team that is considered a potential contender in the AAC. A strong start for a Crimson tide team trying to reach the top again.
Texas Tech Red Raiders Tech comfortably won against FCS Abilene Christian but not quite as strongly as one might expect so they dropped a couple spots on my list.
Texas A&M Aggies The Aggies had perhaps the most dominant victory in an FBS vs FBS match up this weekend as they begin their season.
BYU Cougars BYU had a comfortable victory against a weak FCS Utah Tech program. Nothing unexpected for the Cougars.
LSU Tigers The Tigers embarrassed Clemson in their first week of the season and move up a few spots on my list as a result.
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma had a comfortable and expected shut out win against UTEP on Friday night.
Tennessee Volunteers Not much interesting to say here as Tennessee defeats FCS Furman.
Utah Utes Utah scored 66 against FCS Idaho last Thursday night to start their season
USC Trojans USC looked very strong so far shutting out Fresno St this past week amid the social media conversations about their home crowds.
Missouri Tigers Not much to say as Missouri defeats their FCS opponent Arkansas Pine Bluff
Houston Cougars Houston defeated Oregon St which was expected but the score was a bit closer than what was predicted. Tough to predict what this means for the rest of the Cougars season.
SMU Mustangs SMU looked great at times and weak at times in their unusual match up against Florida St yesterday night. Through the adversity of the power outage they were able to come up clutch and win.
Penn State Nittany Lions A 45 nothing win against a respectable Sun Belt team is a great way to begin a new era at Penn State.
Washington Huskies Washington took down in state rival Wazzu in the Apple cup in a low scoring affair. I'd expect their offense to improve as the season goes on.
Iowa Hawkeyes Iowa's defense was great as it historically is. They also scored 40 points against a new addition to the Mountain west, Northern Illinois.
Memphis Tigers Memphis is 2-0 after victories against UNLV & Arkansas State. Their next opponent is Boise St. The winner of that game will likely be in my rankings next week.
Virginia Cavaliers I really liked the way Virginia played against NC State in Week 0 and they should be a favorite in the ACC this season.
