DarthYoda2594 Ballot for 2022 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 24, 2022, 8:11 p.m.

Overall Rationale: General ranking thought process is a combination of considering efficiency metrics and quality of resume (recency weighted more heavily). Apologize for not beating AP, tried to avoid it traveling back from Pitt game at Louisville. Dropped from last week: Purdue (21). New this week: Cincinnati (24). Next few out, in order: South Carolina, Washington, Maryland, Liberty, Troy, NC State, Baylor, Florida State.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes
Tennessee Volunteers
Georgia Bulldogs
Michigan Wolverines
Alabama Crimson Tide I see no reason to change the top 5. Not punishing Georgia and Michigan for not playing, and Alabama was impressive enough to justify remaining above TCU and Clemson, though they beat ranked opponents.
TCU Horned Frogs Slight edge on Clemson for having a definitive QB, though both wins were pretty similar against very similar-calibre opponents.
Clemson Tigers
Oregon Ducks Slight edge on Oklahoma State (jumped) due to a stronger single week performance in victory. Very close.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
USC Trojans
UCLA Bruins
Utah Utes The Pac-12 trio feels most fair in this configuration, with UCLA H2H on Utah and Utah's 2nd loss dropping them to the real.
LSU Tigers Maybe a big jump, but I think they were a little underrated before (Strength of Tenn loss went up last week, could easily be 7-1 with a made XP and then where would they be?) . Feel like they belong with Utah in the "Strong 2-loss team" club, now that they each share a big win (USC / Ole Miss)
Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Ole Miss Rebels Behind LSU on H2H because of just how that game went, but can easily jump back with their remaining schedule
Penn State Nittany Lions
Syracuse Orange
Kansas State Wildcats
Illinois Fighting Illini
North Carolina Tar Heels
Kentucky Wildcats
Oregon State Beavers Was stunned to see how few votes they had last week. No strong victories but totally acceptable losses. Winner of next week's game with Washington should sit in the low teens.
Tulane Green Wave Slight edge on Cincinnati among the AAC teams due to far stronger single win (K St)
Cincinnati Bearcats
Texas Longhorns An ode to the efficiency numbers. Probably unlucky not to be 8-0. Just lose convincingly so I can forget you
