ikindalikelemons Ballot for 2022 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 23, 2022, 10:14 a.m.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs The Oregon win keeps looking better and better, as does the South Carolina one. Meat of the schedule coming up but they look ready.
Ohio State Buckeyes That was one of the oddest ways I've ever seen a team get a blowout win. Iowa may have a problem or two. I refuse to fault Ohio State too much for their weak schedule so far because of just how complete they've looked. The tougher games start now.
Tennessee Volunteers That offense is startlingly good but the defense still leaves a lot to be desired. Will have to focus up this week to avoid a trap game against Kentucky before a trip to Athens. The LSU win looks good again too.
Michigan Wolverines idk michigan gud
TCU Horned Frogs Max Duggan for Heisman but like unironically. Sonny Dykes may also be a wizard.
Clemson Tigers Needing a couple ticky tack calls in addition to a Syracuse meltdown to win at home isn't the greatest recipe for success, but they are still undefeated and the defense is stout. The coaching staff has GOT to figure out the QB situation though before I trust them.
Alabama Crimson Tide Good bounce-back win against the pirate. Still have to go through *checks notes* LSU(?) to get to Atlanta.
Oregon Ducks If you could forget Week 1, Oregon may be a top-5 team right now. That 49-3 smackdown from Georgia still sits there like spinach in their teeth, but Oregon is on a mission right now.
USC Trojans I may have been too harsh on the Trojans after a narrow loss to a very good Utah team on the road. This team still has everything it wants ahead of it.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Experience and coaching go a looooong way. Texas had more firepower and young guns, but OKSt has a great knack for buckling down and finding ways to win. This is still a damn fine ball club.
Penn State Nittany Lions In a mostly dull whiteout game, Penn St did what it needed to show everyone that the Michigan game wouldn't bleed into the next couple weeks, which is great considering the Buckeyes loom large.
Ole Miss Rebels Lane, Lane, Lane. We alllllllmost bought in to the idea that this team was a contender. There is still an opportunity to win the West, but they need to beat Bama to even have a shot.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Wake has been nothing if not consistent this season. The heartbreaker against Clemson is the only thing keeping this team out of the playoff conversation, and a NY6 bowl is still on the table if they run said table. A home date with Syracuse in a few weeks all of a sudden looks big.
Syracuse Orange Damn. The Orange didn't help themselves at all in the second half, with the offense sputtering and the defense conversely getting tired and getting penalized. The one thing we did learn, no matter the outcome, is that this team is legit and capable of a 10-win regular season, if not more.
Illinois Fighting Illini A well-timed bye week for Illinois as the rest of the Big Ten West tried to figure out what the pecking order is. Let's roll into the back half.
UCLA Bruins The Chip Kelly rocket shit has come crashing back down to Earth. The tea leaves probably could have predicted that we boosted the Bruins a bit too much too quickly, but whatever. A little humble pie never killed anyone.
North Carolina Tar Heels We are this far into the season and I'm still not sure that I know whether North Carolina is actually good or if their record is just good.
Utah Utes Man, that loss to Florida really hurts. I don't think Utah has played to their potential this season, but they are still a team that can beat anyone on a given Saturday.
Cincinnati Bearcats Cincinnati has been slowly but surely earning back respect after the loss to Arkansas. This win against SMU was a bit closer than I think they would've liked, but hey, so was UGA-Mizzou.
Tulane Green Wave Tulane snuck up on all of us, but I'm happy about it. After another good win against Memphis and with a win over ranked K-State already in hand, this is a good spot for them.
LSU Tigers LSU idek anymore. Close loss to FSU, beats a ranked MSU. Embarrassed by Tennessee, crushes a ranked Ole Miss. Unfortunately there's nobody on the schedule between now and the Bama game.
Kentucky Wildcats Good time for a bye week. Tennessee could be caught snoozing before their trip to Georgia. Kentucky has a big opportunity in front of them in Neyland on Saturday.
Kansas State Wildcats It's tough to have a halftime lead against a Top-10 team slip away like that, but K-State is still a solid team deserving of being ranked.
Oregon State Beavers Down here I had four teams for two spots. I'll get to my final tiebreaker with UofSC, but I think the strength of record for the Beavs pushed them for me, as well as my trust in their coaching staff.
South Carolina Gamecocks Between South Carolina, Liberty, and Maryland, the thought process went like this: Liberty's nearly undefeated and hung with Wake Forest on the road, as well as beating BYU. Well, BYU is kinda booty apparently and they needed a 4th-quarter comeback to beat Gardner-Webb. Pass. Alright now Maryland and South Carolina each have two losses and a coach that I don't 100% trust, but are both a bit hot. Well, let's see if they have a common opponent. They do?? They do!! Maryland beat Charlotte 56-21. South Carolina beat Charlotte 56-20. Thus, SC is ranked by one point.
