Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: Dominant performances, quality wins, head to head matters, results matter, and eye test.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Ohio State put Wisconsin in their grave like 6 minutes into the game and looked completely unstoppable all night. Defense looked good as well so honestly if they keep it up I believe they may be the best in the country. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Struggling against Kent State doesn’t exactly scream #1 or even #2 to me. I think the Dawgs will be fine and may even reach #1 again eventually but for now I think they should slip a bit. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Tennessee now has a top 25 win over Pitt and a win over a pretty decent Florida team. Most prolly won’t put them this high but honestly if you put em on a neutral field with Clemson, Michigan, or USC after last night I don’t see how they wouldn’t be favored. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Michigan hasn’t played any quality opponents. Maryland is decent and might be a borderline top 25 team, but Michigan just didn’t look impressive to me. Even then, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for this week. |
| USC Trojans | Struggle win. Their game was on PAC Network so I couldn’t watch but I don’t really see anyone to put above USC as of now. Maybe Clemson but I feel like USC and Clemson are basically interchangeable at this point. |
| Clemson Tigers | |
| Kentucky Wildcats | |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | |
| Minnesota Golden Gophers | This Minnesota team is the MOST underrated team in the country. They destroyed Michigan State, a common opponent with Washington, by far more points and they did it on the road. Everything is clicking for Minnesota rn and I feel their dominance deserves a spot in the top 10. |
| Washington Huskies | |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Struggle win for Ole Miss. It’ll be interesting to see how their game with Kentucky plays out with how Kentucky struggled too. |
| Utah Utes | Florida lost, so no more strings attached for Utah. If those two teams played again the outcome would be different. |
| Oregon Ducks | |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Kansas State and Oklahoma now have the same record and Kansas State looked like the better team so I think head to head matters in terms of ranking. The Tulane loss does keep me from putting them top 15 tho. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Oklahoma was on track to possibly be ranked ahead of UGA in my rankings if they won. They destroyed Kent State and looked like a contender, but the big purple Sooner eater from the past got em again. |
| NC State Wolfpack | Idk what to think of NC State rn. I thought they had top 10 potential to start the season, but they almost and maybe even should have lost to ECU. After that game tho they’ve been dominating against below average teams and beat a decent Texas Tech team. Does that really make them top 15 or top 10 tho rn? The Clemson game will be the answer. |
| Florida State Seminoles | |
| Texas A&M Aggies | Texas A&M is the suckiest greatest worst best team of all time. |
| Arkansas Razorbacks | One oink doink away from greatness. Too many mistakes and defensive ineptitude combined with a heads up defensive hand off by the Aggies defense gives Arkansas a loss. Now they got Bama next, so looks like theres a horror movie in store for the piggy secondary |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Dominant win over Indiana. Honestly I still don’t believe Cincinnati is bad. Arkansas might not look as good anymore, but the Razorbacks are still Cincy’s only L. |
| BYU Cougars | Struggle half. Only thing really keeping BYU in my top 25 is their W over Baylor |
| Baylor Bears | Maybe Baylor might deserve to be higher, but unlike Utah I honestly don’t know if they beat BYU in a rematch. We’ll see how they handle Oklahoma State |
| Pittsburgh Panthers | There were a bunch of teams I considered for 25. Texas Tech, Wake, LSU, Syracuse, Oregon State, Kansas, Wazzu, but at the end of the day half of those teams have a loss from yesterday, competitive or not. Syracuse also struggled and I’m just not totally buying in on the Kansas hype until they best Iowa State and maybe someone else. It was between LSU, Texas Tech, and Pitt for this spot and I ultimately settled on Pitt because they took my #4 team to OT, which I feel is more impressive than the almost wins LSU, Wake, Wazzu, and Oregon State had over other top 25 teams. I think there could be an argument for Texas Tech after beating Texas who was #12 in my rankings last week, but I honestly feel like Pitt might be better rn plus Texas Tech has a chance to prove themselves against Kansas State this upcoming week. |
