Ordinarily, ND would be in this spot with the better ranked win, but with only a loss to the #1 team, SMU takes it from ND who lost to a G5 team.
Rather fortunately, this helps me avoid having TAMU and ND back to back, because head to head would put ND first, despite TAMU having the objectively better resume. Losing to a G5 team vs a ranked P5 is a two-spot swing for ND this week.

Mynameisdiehard 16 Well it took a blocked FG (an amazing defensive play) and a failed 2 pt conversion from Duke for SMU to not find themselves falling down the rankings. Swapping them with Clemson looks right here, but definitely deserve to stay above Kansas St. due to the fact they stayed within 3 of BYU who K St was blown out by.

throwaway_6786 19 They've gotta be thanking their lucky stars in Dallas as the Mustangs just barely got out of Durham with a 1-point OT victory on a Duke failed 2-point conversion. The bad news? Duke is 6-2, but a rather unconvincing 6-2, so SMU drops as a result (though it could've been so much worse without that FG block). The good news? They have a chance to bolster their resume at home against Pitt this week. Let's see what Jennings and that offense can do against a strong, opportunistic Pitt defense. One little note as well: SMU's dominant rivalry win over TCU isn't looking so bad with TCU at 5-3.
