Rank Team Reason
Michigan Wolverines Congrats, Michigan! Best of luck trying to fend off the NCAA!
Washington Huskies Whoever is saying that Washington does not deserve to be #2 is absolutely delusional.
Texas Longhorns There were some hiccups, but I think we can safely say that Texas is officially back. If they can get the QB situation figured out, the Longhorns are going to be a very scary team.
Alabama Crimson Tide Here's the terrifying part about Alabama: this was a down year. Dread it... run from it... the Tide will always be there when it counts.
Georgia Bulldogs If we can all agree on one thing after this season, it's this: Georgia is not going away any time soon.
Florida State Seminoles I consider the Orange Bowl to be a no contest. I absolutley would have voted for them as #2 had they won, but we don't deal in hypotheticals.
Oregon Ducks A solid season for the Ducks. Not amazing, but not terrible by any means. Now we wait and see how they deal with the loss of Bo Nix. By the way, thanks for giving us clarity when it came to Colorado and Liberty!
Missouri Tigers If there were a national championship for the most fun team in the nation, I think Mizzou would win unanimously. The best part about the Tigers is that it looks like it might be sustainable. Next year is going to be very interesting.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ryan Day is not it… that is all…
Ole Miss Rebels A great year in Oxford continues to get better as more talent comes into the program through the portal. It's looking like the Rebels will be a force to be reckoned with next year.
LSU Tigers Nothing spectacular, but a solid season for the Tigers!
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State is nothing special and it showed throughout the year. I am really starting to question why James Franklin is still employed.
Arizona Wildcats What a way to turn things around after a rocky start! The Oklahoma win is a nice feather in their cap.
Oklahoma Sooners The Sooners defy all logic. How did they have the best win in the nation and go 3-3 to end the year?
Notre Dame Fighting Irish If I had to describe Notre Dame's season in one word it would be "meh."
Tennessee Volunteers A significant downturn from last season, but the hype around Iamaleava feels warranted after his performance in the Citrus Bowl. The kid can ball.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Sending the Sooners to the SEC with a loss in what appears to be the last Bedlam for a while is incredibly funny. Overall, this was a very good season for the Cowboys.
Kansas State Wildcats Dreams really do come true!
Oregon State Beavers It was up and down for the Beavers and their future looks a little bleak, but they played hard every game.
Utah Utes I can’t put my finger on what exactly I think about the Utes. They were kind of the Pac-12’s Iowa: really good defense but never consistent enough to be truly competitive.
USC Trojans Look, it makes sense in my head. They won the games they needed to but their flaws were on full display all year. The defense needs to be figured out yesterday. Next year is going to be a gauntlet and Lincoln Riley’s head could be on the chopping block.
Kansas Jayhawks The Jayhawks’ turnaround has been incredibly impressive. Beating Oklahoma is a massive achievement and with a weakened Big 12, their playoff chances are surprisingly high.
NC State Wolfpack I had my doubts about the Wolfpack early in the season, but they showed that they could be a serious contender in the ACC if they play their cards right.
Clemson Tigers A pissed off Dabo Swinney is a scary Dabo Swinney. The Tyler from Spartanburg call seemed to be the kick in the pants this team needed to get back on track. Watch out for the Tigers next season.
Kentucky Wildcats Beating Louisville is the sole reason the Wildcats are ranked. They had one of the most brutal schedules possible and it didn’t turn out well, but I have a feeling that UK can make some noise next year.
