Muffinnnnnnn Ballot for 2022 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 24, 2022, 9:18 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Wins and losses matter most, especially head-to-head. Same record and a head-to-head win means you have to be ranked ahead. It feels like a lot changed and also very little changed. Most of my thoughts on teams are unchanged. Ole Miss may be lower than most people but I have not been a buyer in them all year. Despite their record, they don't deserve any higher. As they have been in my poll since Week 4, Tulane is the highest ranked G5 team in my poll, and it feels like it's either them or Cincy for the AAC championship. I had hopes for UCF too but they disappointed me last week (they dropped out). I didn't want to punish Syracuse too much for a nail-biting loss to Clemson that they probably should've won. Penn State made me more confident than ever in Michigan this week after trouncing Minnesota. Tbh, for the first time in a LONG time, I feel like the top 10 is pretty dang close together in skill right now, with an exception for Ohio State. They seem like the best team to me right now, and seem to have fewer weaknesses than any other team. Maybe you want to make a line under the top 6 too, but Wake Forest was inches away from beating Clemson so I dunno. Shoutout to Liberty with their huge win over BYU moving them to 7-1, with their one loss being by ONE POINT TO WAKE FOREST! They are very inconsistent, but they are consistent in the win column so they get bumped up. Also shoutout to a team I never thought I'd rank, South Carolina. I was skeptical seeing them in the AP, but looking at their body of work, ya, that's worthy I think. One notable team that I don't have ranked is Kentucky. I was never fully sold on them and they have a loss to SC so they have to be 25th at best, and in a battle of resumes, keeping in mind both teams had been QB-less for a time, NC State won out.
