JetoGrov Ballot for 2022 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 24, 2022, 5:22 p.m.

Overall Rationale: My best attempt at a resume-based poll

Rank Team Reason
Tennessee Volunteers UT (the real UT, dont @ me, Texas wasn't even a state in 1794, when UT was founded....AND they wouldn't even be a state without Tennesseans volunteering to defend the alamo) boasts the best win of any team in the country, has a beatdown of LSU that looks better after this weekend, and is deserving of the top spot (that is until they lose to Mizzou).
Georgia Bulldogs UGA had the week off getting their suntan lotion, natty lights, and dixie shots ready for this coming weekend. The win over Oregon looks better and UGA is clearly a top squad.
TCU Horned Frogs They boatraced Oklahoma, beat Kansas in their biggest game in a decade, took down Ok State, and survived Kansas State. The Big 12 is grueling this year (tbh I don't expect TCU to run the table) but surviving in it this long deserves a Top 3 ranking.
Clemson Tigers The win over Cuse wasn't pretty, but that in addition to a win over Wake, an easy win over FSU, and a win over NC State (when they were good!!!) give Clemson their #4 ranking
Michigan Wolverines If you made me bet (ohhhh noooo don't make me) on a game between Michigan and TCU (or maybe even Mich v. Clemson) I would go with Michigan. But their only win of note is Penn State, who they thrashed (which either means Michigan is really good or Penn St is Penn St)...and I mean, cmon I'm not letting go of that terrible non-con
Ohio State Buckeyes OSU is good, clearly. Unfortunately for them no one they have played this year is also good (Toledo what you doin blowing that game to Buffalo???). To their credit, they at least tried to schedule a respectable non-con (unlike other people...) but this team still lacks a good win (which I'm not even sure Penn St will count as after this week)
Alabama Crimson Tide Yeah, it's Bama. They've looked off, both UT's (real and fake) should have got'em, but they're still on top of the 1-lossers
Oklahoma State Cowboys Oregon v. OK State was a tough one. Oregon has the better win, but I'd argue Ok State has the better collection of wins (I might have a Big 12 bias...but like, the Big 12 is sick this year).
Oregon Ducks Oregon really impressed this past week, I'm not sure if a team that lost by 46 points to another CFP contender can still make the CFP...but we'll see.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Only a double OT loss to a Top 5 team separates the Deacons from an unblemished season. Plus old man mascots are fun.
UCLA Bruins UCLA's defense didn't show up in Eugene, but they still have wins over Utah and Washington (though that's looking worse and worse)
USC Trojans Yeah USC is cool I guess, they go behind UCLA cause like, Utah.
Syracuse Orange Was this past week Clemson being bad or Cuse being good?? Who knows, but it's a better loss than any of the remaining one-loss teams.
Penn State Nittany Lions Using the white-out on a backup was unfulfilling.
Ole Miss Rebels Lucky for Ole Miss I stan Troy, they sort of kind of got exposed (by Brian Kelly lol)
North Carolina Tar Heels UNC at 16 feels wrong...but their collection of wins and lone loss collectively stacks up better than the remaining one-lossers
Cincinnati Bearcats Cincy is fine, a lone loss in Fayetteville is respectable, but what's the best win? SMU?
Illinois Fighting Illini I'm mad at you Illinois. You should be higher on these rankings. I WANT you to be higher on these rankings...you lost to Indiana though.
Liberty Flames Let's see, only loss is to top 10 Wake, that's promising. Part of me wanted to put the Flamez higher, but the wins aren't too impressive.
Tulane Green Wave Tulane goes behind Liberty because Southern Miss (#goldeneaglefam)
Kansas State Wildcats I just want to say sorry to Coastal, the only unranked one-loss team, but like don't lose to ODU by 28 maybe. Anyway, for KSU they good, Deuce is my fave, and the losses aint too bad.
LSU Tigers The Ole Miss win was impressive (I guess...hoenstly, not sure Ole Miss doesn't just go 8-4) so I'll throw them in here and we'll see how things play out
South Carolina Gamecocks Did I want to rank South Carolina??? Nooooo. Do I want to have middling SEC schools at the end of my poll (look, I'm like a real poll)???? Nooooo. But here's the thing, Utah has to be ranked (they are good, and in fact not middling) but Utah lost to Florida....
Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky beat Florida the following week, so they gotta be above Utah, and guess who's beaten Kentucky?
Utah Utes Yep, South Carolina. Thus the roosterbirds are 23. I know Levis was hurt, but it's still a win. Apologies to Oregon St, Boise St, and Troy.
