2 Ohio State Buckeyes Very impressive win against a good Iowa defense (and putrid Iowa offense)
3 Georgia Bulldogs Bye
4 Michigan Wolverines Bye
5 TCU Horned Frogs Perhaps the most impressive win of the weekend. Team showed tons of fight and made a terrific comeback against a good opponent.
6 Clemson Tigers Is Clemson is back into sketchy offense territory or is Syracuse’s defense that good?
7 Alabama Crimson Tide I guess they took their foot off the gas in the second half, but it was still an absolute handling of Mississippi State
8 Oregon Ducks I thought Oregon would win but I didn’t think they’d win as thoroughly as they did. Didn’t think the game was as close as the score. Still wondering if Bo Nix will ever revert back to Bad Bo, but he has looked good since the UGA game
9 Oklahoma State Cowboys Another win that was really impressive. Just can’t put them over Oregon or Bama at this point. But they control their destiny. Didn’t think they’d come back against Texas but they did. The defense kept being put in a tough spot and responded every time.
10 USC Trojans Bye
11 UCLA Bruins Tough loss— and they were pretty thoroughly handled. I hesitate to drop them too much but they kinda got beaten at their own game by being as out-physicalled as they were.
12 Illinois Fighting Illini Bye
13 Utah Utes Bye
14 Syracuse Orange I actually came away more impressed with Syracuse even though they loss. They could’ve easily won that game if just one or two things went differently (including a late hit no-call). That INT at the end was ROUGH though.
15 Wake Forest Demon Deacons They did what they should’ve against a bad BC team. Not much else to say.
16 Penn State Nittany Lions Surprised by how soundly they beat Minnesota. Thought it would be a much closer game. Minnesota didn’t look they belonged on the same field during a few series.
17 Tulane Green Wave They keep winning! Maybe this team is actually just good?? Defense looks nasty.
18 Kansas State Wildcats Tough loss especially without Martinez. Not going to ding them too much for this one— they gave everything they had.
19 North Carolina Tar Heels Bye
20 LSU Tigers Wow. I thought LSU would find a way to win. I didn’t know they’d win by 20! I wish they would decide whether they’re good or not.
21 Ole Miss Rebels Phew. What happened in the second half???? Is Ole Miss fraudulent? The closing stretch is brutal— guess we’ll find out.
22 South Carolina Gamecocks I don’t want to rank this team but they beat Kentucky H2H (who I also don’t want to rank— it’s just a crazy year).
23 Kentucky Wildcats See above. Don’t want to rank but it feels like I have no choice.
24 Cincinnati Bearcats Also same as above. I was sure SMU would pull it out and let me finally remove them from my rankings. But a win is a win.
25 Liberty Flames Sigh. Perhaps my least favorite team, but the resume deserves to be ranked. And they’re just getting healthy. Someone needs to poach Hugh (who I also dislike) ASAP.
