Overall Rationale: Head 2 head matters, resume matters, schedule matters, quality wins and terrible losses matter, eye test matters
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Alabama Crimson Tide | I don’t know how the A&M game would’ve went with Bryce Young, plus Texas A&M was the best team out of all the teams the top 4 played. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | |
| Georgia Bulldogs | |
| Clemson Tigers | |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Tennessee looks scary |
| Michigan Wolverines | Michigan’s best win is Maryland and they struggled with Indiana for a good bit before finally pulling away. I’m believing they might be a lil overrated until they beat a great team, which they can do against Penn State. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Almost moved them ahead of Michigan. They have some decent wins against some decent teams and look like the “best” team in the big 12 resume and record wise. |
| UCLA Bruins | UCLA has better wins then USC. They dominated Utah and Washington. |
| USC Trojans | USC pulled away against Wazzu after a slowish start but they haven’t played much of anyone else with a pulse. They’ll earn their spot ahead of UCLA again by how they handle Utah. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | |
| TCU Horned Frogs | |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Ole Miss did not look all that great against Vandy and the way they’ve played so far this year does not scream top 10 to me rn |
| Oregon Ducks | |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | |
| NC State Wolfpack | |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | |
| Syracuse Orange | |
| Kansas Jayhawks | I was hesitant on Kansas last week but a combined situation of upsets and losses ahead of them plus some key injuries and a valiant performance there really is no argument I can think of to move them down, so they moved up a lil |
| Tulane Green Wave | I realized that I honestly forgot about Tulane after they lost to Southern Miss. I established the importance of head 2 head and Tulane has the same record as Kansas State so I have to live with this. There’s a likely chance Tulane isn’t even a top 25 team this year, BUT if the season ended right now it’d be seriously unfair for them not to be ahead of a team they beat and have the same record as. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Kansas State slipped due to Kansas just beating a common opponent by more than they did (Iowa State). |
| Texas Longhorns | Texas has a major what if with the Ewers injury. We could be talking about an undefeated Texas team with a major argument for #1 in the country rn if it weren’t for that. I believe when Ewers plays Texas is a great team and might even be the best in the Big 12 overall. That might not be the case resume or record wise as of right now but I definitely think if any two loss team should be top 20, it’s this one. |
| Purdue Boilermakers | Purdue’s only losses are to undefeated teams that they played to the wire and they have a 10 point win over my current #22 and a decent 2 point win over Maryland. |
| Minnesota Golden Gophers | Honestly Minnesota may still be undefeated rn if it weren’t for some injuries to Ibrahim and their top WR, but like with Texas injuries are part of the game and Minnesota hasn’t played a good team outside of the Spoilermakers. Their dominance and 4-1 record gets them a spot here tho. |
| South Carolina Gamecocks | South Carolina beat a Kentucky team without Will Levis, but they now have the same record and a head 2 head win. South Carolina may not actually be a top 25 team, but I’m not going to throw out the importance of head 2 head in my rankings because South Carolina beat a Kentucky team with no QB and the Gamecocks aren’t ranked or seen as top 25 by anyone else. |
| Kentucky Wildcats | Kentucky does not have any impressive wins outside of Florida. They almost beat and maybe even should have beat Ole Miss but that’s really it. They did not have Will Levis against South Carolina, so I don’t know if they could have or would have made up that 10 point difference with him playing. Either way they have head 2 head over Florida who narrowly missed out on the top 25. |
