Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Oct. 9, 2022, 10:26 a.m.
Overall Rationale: 26-30: Baylor, South Carolina, Kentucky, Florida State, Minnesota | Coastal Carolina drops to the first team out of the Top 30. Kentucky falls out as this team just isn't the same without Levis and will need him back in two weeks if they want to have a shot at beating Tennessee.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Even though this offense scares me, the defense is still the best in the country by far. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Even without some of their top offensive weapons, the Buckeyes still put up 49 on Mich St. The defense appears to be getting a little better too, barely allowing less than 400 yards between the last two games combined. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | The offense was clearly not as efficient without Bryce, but the Tide defense did an excellent job at keeping King under pressure. Not sure this team can beat Tennessee without Bryce though. |
| Clemson Tigers | Slow start in the cold on the road, but the defense was lights out the entire game. This defense is really good, even while missing its best player in Bresse. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | A thorough beat down of a previously ranked LSU team moves the Vols into the top 5. Death Valley is a never an easy environment to play in, but Tennessee made it look easy. The real test for this offense comes next week. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Tennessee's 3 ranked wins vs Michigan's 0 are the reason from the 1 spot drop. The Wolverines have been taking care of business against lesser opponents, but will face their first real test this weekend. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Took care of business against a decent Tech team, scoring 18 straight to pull it out. The offense was effective and the defense came alive in the second half to hold Tech to 7 points. Cowboys punter is a weapon too, 14 of 24 punts in the 20 this year. |
| USC Trojans | Trojans have taken care business up this point, heading into the matchup at Utah. The defense has been the most impressive part of this team by far so. |
| Oregon Ducks | Known rushing attack school Oregon with over 300 yards and 7 rush TDs against Arizona. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Its Vanderbilt |
| UCLA Bruins | Two straight top 15 wins and the Bruins are on the verge of the top 10. DRT has looked much better this year and that offense tore up a good Utah defense. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | This team has impressed a lot over the past two weeks over ranked opponents, but has yet another tough challenge ahead this week. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Dropping a spot after being on a bye and having played opponents with a combined 12-18 record thus far. |
| NC State Wolfpack | Florida State is a good team and the Wolfpack defense managed to shut them out in the second half, will the backup QB did enough to help them pull out a win. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Iowa State has played all of its P5 opponents close, so it's no surprise this was a tight one for K State. They pulled it out in the end, despite struggles on 3rd down. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | The offense is good, but the scoring defense has been the most surprising part of this team. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Did exactly what they against Army. |
| Utah Utes | The Utes just couldn't keep pace with the UCLA offense. The defense will have to slow down USC if it wants to avoid falling to 4-3. |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Cincy survived a scare against USF, who played the game of their season so far. |
| Kansas Jayhawks | Brutal loss for the Jayhawks, but was impressed with how they played without Daniels. We'll see how they rebound from this. |
| Texas Longhorns | This team is legit with Ewers as its QB. Dominant from start to finish against OU. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | The Tar Heels lone loss to ND isn't bad and the offense looks good. No trust whatsoever in the defense. Ranked again after going on the road and taking down Miami. |
| Syracuse Orange | Idle |
| James Madison Dukes | This team has made the transition to FBS look easy. Finally ranked after an impressive start. |
| Illinois Fighting Illini | Tell your friends about Ranked Illinois. The win against Iowa was ugly, but the defense continued to be the strength of this team. |
