Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Elite. What else is there to say? |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Holy offense, Toledo! |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Looked good but, I mean, it was ULM. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Looked good but, I mean, it was UConn. I am BEGGING for them to play someone eventually. But, they haven’t played down to their competition, and that counts for something. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Looked good but, I mean, it was Arkansas Pine Bluff (and on Big XII Network, so I didn’t watch). I don’t know that they’ve proven anything yet but think their resume is slightly stronger than OU’s. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Don’t think OU has proven too much yet. Resume is ok at best. Team *looks* worlds better, though. |
| Kentucky Wildcats | Protect Mark Stoops at all costs |
| Arkansas Razorbacks | Bobby almost got revenge (for something he screwed up in the first place). Not an encouraging game at all. Hopefully it was a trap game they managed to escape, or conference play will be ugly. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Looking like the team I thought the would, just not sure how they’ll fare in the grinder of the B1G. Defense is legit. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Looked good but, I mean, it was Akron. Next week is the real test. Is the defense good enough to slow down Richardson? South Florida’s was… |
| Utah Utes | Beat an opponent they should’ve beaten. Think this is as tough a team as ever. Will be interested to see if they dominate a PAC-12 that is looking surprisingly good. |
| Baylor Bears | I mean, I think this is a good team? I really do. This is a ranking that I think the team will justify as the season goes on. I’ve been wrong before though. |
| USC Trojans | I’d like them to suck. They don’t. Still want to see it against a good team, though. Starting to worry they’ll still put up 50 no matter who they play. But how many points will they allow? |
| Washington Huskies | Is DeBoer the early favorite for COTY??? What is happening? How bad was Lake? |
| Oregon State Beavers | Fire up the chainsaws. This is a tough football team. Is the PAC-12 actually good! ? Wondering who will survive and come out on top on that conference. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Need to see them play somebody, but they’ve been better than I thought they’d be this year even against cupcakes. |
| Oregon Ducks | Maybe Georgia is just *that* good and we need to stop sleeping on Oregon |
| Clemson Tigers | I saw the final score. The game was uglier than that. This is a *bad* offense, and I say that as an Iowa fan. |
| NC State Wolfpack | I still don’t believe in this team but they haven’t lost yet, either. Still waiting for them to look dominant, but Tech is a good team that they came close to really dominating. Have to give them credit. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Need to look better moving forward. 2 picks for Hartman (what he threw against Liberty) won’t cut it. |
| Texas Longhorns | This is where the team deserves to be ranked with good QB play. With Ewers, they may be downright scary. I am afraid we’re moving towards “back” status, but I’ve been down this road before and will need to see it to believe it. |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Shaky start, better finish. |
| Minnesota Golden Gophers | Ibrahim for Heisman? No, really, shouldn’t we at least talk about it? I know they haven’t really played anyone yet, but it will be really interesting to see if he (and the team) continues to have this kind of success in conference play. He has the tools to be one of (if not the) best backs in the B1G, and that’s saying something. |
| Syracuse Orange | Hard to ignore what they’ve done so far. At the same time, I don’t think they’re the 24th best team— or at least, I don’t think they will be by the end of the season. Until then, I’m willing to let this ranking play itself out. |
| Kansas Jayhawks | Offense!!! Jalen Daniels for Heisman? Again, I’m being serious. That offense looks legit. Will it continue in conference play? Well, it kind of has with WVU and Houston! Very impressive start for the Jayhawks and Leipold. |
