Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Did what they should have done against Arkansas State. Still the best team. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Extremely dominant win over Rutgers, but it's Rutgers. Still the Big Ten's best team. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Good win on the road against South Carolina, but it only shows what we've already known, so no rise is needed. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Oklahoma's got some really incredible athletes on their team and they're an absolute joy to watch play. One could feel the significant disparity in the quality of Oklahoma's side vs. UCLA. |
| Clemson Tigers | Kellen Mond is a good quarterback, but nevertheless it should be slightly concerning that they gave up 416 yards through the air. Still, I think they'd win against any of the other teams behind them, so they're stuck here. |
| Auburn Tigers | Alabama State more like Alabama State of big loss send tweet |
| Washington Huskies | Did all you could ask of them against North Dakota. Nothing has changed my opinion that they're the best team in the Pac-12. |
| Stanford Cardinal | They held USC to their lowest point total since 1997 and Bryce Love finally got going. Welcome to my top 10. |
| LSU Tigers | yay another top 10 playing an fcs team, another drubbing |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Although the final score doesn't show it, they struggled mightily with a team as bad as New Mexico for a half before pulling away, and I think a drop is needed because of it. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Ball State was 2-10 last year and yet Notre Dame kept them in the game. Gotta give the Irish the drop this week. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Looked very good against Western Michigan, but I'm not going to move a team ahead of a team that they've lost to this soon after that game. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Cranking your in-state rival 51-6 is probably a good way to bounce back after the App State debacle. Probably. |
| Texas A&M Aggies | Moving teams up after a loss is one of those polling methods that you either think is sound or dumb as hell. Personally, I think it shows the quality of a side if they can hang in there with a team as good as Clemson. Because of that, I feel no conflict about moving them up into this slot, even if it is setting up a classic overhyping of an Aggie team. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Another week, another bad team crushed. |
| Miami Hurricanes | They beat a program transitioning to D2 by a massive margin. No shame in that, but no gain in it either. |
| USC Trojans | This team is still very talented, and could very well still do good things this year. Nevertheless, with a freshman QB, they're going to struggle some, and this new ranking I think reflects that. |
| West Virginia Mountaineers | maybe WVU could get one of Faux Pelini's cats |
| Boise State Broncos | After bravely getting absolutely smoked by UCF, UConn decided they wanted to do it again, but against another G5 power. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | Thoroughly dominant performance against Kansas State, but don't forget that K-State a week ago was lucky to avoid being upset by South Dakota. Still though, a good win. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | They took a while to get going but beat SMU by 30 points. However, SMU was a squad that lost by 18 to North Texas, so it was not as if they played a quality side. |
| Virginia Tech Hokies | The Florida State performance just doesn't look that great now after they almost lost to Samford, so that is why Virginia Tech has dropped. |
| UCF Knights | UCF isn't moving down because of anything they've done, it's just I think that there are more teams that are better than them than I did a week ago. |
| Arizona State Sun Devils | Had a great win against Michigan State at home. Given how they've looked the last two weeks, I think this is a fair ranking. |
| Michigan State Spartans | I think after watching Utah State outathlete Michigan State and seeing them struggle with Arizona State, it's going to be more difficult for this Michigan State team moreso than most to get things going. Nevertheless, my computer rating still has them at 12th because of the preseason ranking, and while they don't look like they're going to be that good, we have only seen the first two games of the season. |
