Ch-i-ef Ballot for 2024 Week 15

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Dec. 3, 2024, 2:52 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Rivalry Week doesn't dissapoint!

Rank Team Reason
Oregon Ducks Alright, here's my end-of-the-regular-season-ranked-list. I'll make my adjustments and do some swap arounds so earlier ranking bias doesn't effect teams too much and just have my normal bias effect them instead (つ ͡ꈍ ͜ʖ̫ ͡ꈍ ) No surprise Oregon lands at the top of the football world. They had a brutal conference game stretch, but they handled all of their games very well (I won't count the Wisconsin game because your team looked damn tired at that point of the season). Good stuff Ducks, now let's see where it takes you in the playoffs.
Texas Longhorns TEXAS IS BACK! Is this considered overused now? Well they have been back. They made a playoff run last year and they're gunning for a further run this year. Despite landing in a new and """tougher""" conference this year, they get a cupcake walk and easily handle their opponents outside of Georgia. Top to bottom, you have one of the best rosters in college football. Your most likely only flaw lies at your QB position. Quinn Ewers, despite his upside, doesn't always see the entirety of the field. And despite how tempting it is, throwing Arch back there isn't going to automatically help you win against playoff teams (unless they are from the Big12 then maybe.) Keep up the roll Texas, let's see how you do in the thick of it.
Penn State Nittany Lions Great seasons always overshadowed by narratives. Such is the life of a Penn State fan when James Franklin is your coach. He just can't win this big games. But now is your chance: The 12 team playoff will give me the ultimate opportunity. The question is not if he drops the ball here, but how?...Sorry Penn State fans...
Boise State Broncos There's not a single ranked team I feel this year where if you removed a single player, their W-L ratio could be halved, or hell even flipped!...well, probably not flipped because this Boise State team still flashes talent in skill position groups outside of the Heisman finalist wrecking ball known as Ashton Jeanty. What a player he is. He just stands upright in the backfield and a few seconds later has shed 3 tackles and burrowing his way for another long run, regardless of how many opposing players stack the box. It's obvious Boise State's entire offense revolves around him, but how much production can they get out of their other positions, namely QB in Maddux Madsen? I don't doubt that Ashton Jeanty can produce similar results against the top end P4 teams in the playoffs (Please see Oregon vs Boise State Week 1), but can it hold up? Whether or not it can, Broncos fans can look back on this season as a tremendous success and a great season watching one of the best to wear blue and orange. ...you're gonna take care of business against UNLV and not miss the playoffs, right?
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Wat a long way you've come since losing to NIU. Every aspect of your team has vastly improved, and while you can desire more out of Riley Leonard passing, you have to appreciate how ND has taken care of business while a lot of teams around them have not. Just like Penn State, top tier success has eluded you for quite a while and the narratives are as strong as ever. Let's see if this is the year you can break through them.
SMU Mustangs Flashback to FSU suing the ACC for a whole lotta things, including the citing of SMU as a lower quality addition to the conference. Well, how the turn-tables have turned! In your first year as a G5 team turned P4 team, you easily sweep through and find yourself in the conference championship game. With 1 loss coming to another ranked team, you think this would have already solidified SMU as a playoff lock, but SEC narratives for their (checks notes)...3 loss Bama and Cock teams must stay alive and well. Is what it is. You control your own destiny: Win and in. Lose, and pray.
Ohio State Buckeyes Despite the outcome, everything is ahead of you. This is still an immensely talented roster, but it is held back by poor coaching issues. Chip Kelly, known very well for always trying to establish the run, called a game outside of a psych ward. Why play to your strengths of throwing and attacking the perimeter when you can run a bunch against a make-shift offensive line against literally Michigan's only strength, with 2 first-round Defensive Tackles?
Indiana Hoosiers You didn't have to dumpster Purdue that hard holy hell. Well, it's more of a reinforcement of what we've already seen: A very talented and special Indiana team that takes care of business against its opponents, and just might not have the juice required to beat the top end dogs. But really, who cares?! What a season it has been! Just ride the high and enjoy every moment that no Hoosier fan thought they would be a part of come the start of this season.
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia Tech...? Georgia Tech? Georgia TECH?! GEORGIA TECH?!?!?!?! YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH IN A DOWNWARD SPIRAL AND A FORMER SHELL OF A ONCE GREAT TEAM. YOU HAVE NOTHING GOING FOR YOU AND THE DOUBT THAT YOU CAN BEAT *ANY* OF THESE PLAYOFF MADE OR BUBBLE TEAMS IS GROWING ALARMINGLY QUICK. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BE MADE THE LAUGHING STOCK OF YOUR CONFERENCE: FIGURE. IT. OUT.
Tennessee Volunteers Yeah Vols you're just chilling. Easy times, just gonna sleep walk into that open playoff spot!
Iowa State Cyclones First time to 10 wins...ever?! What an incredible season! The ASU game will be a monster spectacle that will decide a lot of playoff seeding.
Arizona State Sun Devils Last in the conference? Neigh said the Sun Devil, as it took out its fiery trident and proceeded to shove it up the ass of anyone who stood in their way.
South Carolina Gamecocks I know a lot of "what if-" scenarios played out for the Gamecocks this year, but still being in a position where you are in the bubble looking in on a small chance of making the playoffs is still an accomplishment of its own. Be proud!
Miami Hurricanes Outside of Cam Ward, what do you even do?...You gonna get John Mateer next and hope the rest of your roster is semi-competent next season...man I hate NIL and its effect on smaller schools...ok rant over.
Ole Miss Rebels Threw you down a few spots because other teams have much more of a consistent pulse then you do.
BYU Cougars If those back to back losses weren't so late in the season, then we'd have a much more positive outlook on BYU's season and playoff chances. Allas...
Clemson Tigers Say thank you Syracuse!
Alabama Crimson Tide Lol. Lmao even. Playoff team my ass!
Colorado Buffaloes Despite my disliking of Deion and his sons, there is no denying what he has done for your program, with him finally getting the results he knew they were capable of. While they are eliminated from the playoffs, the excitement of Travis Hunter winning the Heisman is a good distraction from it. I say distraction, but it was a great season, nonetheless.
Army West Point God bless the troops who can stay awake for long periods of time because I sure can't stay awake any longer. God bless college football and of course I wasn't gonna rank Mizzou!
UNLV Rebels Eepy
Illinois Fighting Illini So sleepy
Memphis Tigers So eepy sleepy
Syracuse Orange So mimimimimi
Duke Blue Devils So zzZZZzzzzZZZZzzzzz......
