1 Oregon Ducks There’s no other defensible choice for #1.
2 Texas Longhorns Weak schedule, but they keep winning. A&M may be their strongest win of the year.
3 SMU Mustangs Closer to #2 than Texas fans would like, tbh.
4 Boise State Broncos
5 Indiana Hoosiers The most impressive thing about this team? They never play down to competition.
6 Penn State Nittany Lions I do not believe a James Franklin led team should be allowed to make the playoff but I tried to keep my pettiness out of the rankings.
7 Arizona State Sun Devils Unbelievable year. Dillingham is the COTY to me, just edging out Cignetti (and it’s no shot at Cignetti—I really am just that blown away by how well Dillingham has done to bring this program back from the smoldering pit Herm left it in)
8 Georgia Bulldogs I would not like to rank them this high. Needing 8OTs to beat a Georgia Tech team led by an injured Haynes King is not the mark of the #8 team, IMO. But they also have the best win of the season with their waxing of Texas. I just don’t understand this team.
9 Tennessee Volunteers
10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish I firmly believe a team that lost to NIU should be disqualified from the playoff. However, no other teams seem to want this spot. Ohio State keeps losing. Miami keeps losing. The SEC is eating itself. Notre Dame? Notre Dame keeps winning.
11 Ohio State Buckeyes How do you lose to *that* Michigan team when you spent *that* much money in the portal? When you brought in Chip Kelley to lead the offense? When you swore this would be the year? I don’t want to rank them this highly, I’m just having a hard time finding someone else to put here.
12 UNLV Rebels
13 Miami Hurricanes
14 Memphis Tigers
15 Alabama Crimson Tide I don’t think Bama should be able to make the playoff either but they’re going to. You can’t lose to an Oklahoma team trotting out an *awful* offense like that. You especially can’t get blown out.
16 South Carolina Gamecocks They have key losses in so many head-to-head matchups, but I really would like to see them a touch higher than this.
