Ballot Type: Hybrid
Submitted: Dec. 3, 2024, 4:40 a.m.
Overall Rationale: Though I'm sure this ballot will be high on unusualness again, I am generally happy with it. This week I ran double SCF and did challenges as the end of season deserves it and more. The SEC can eat dirt after that performance and I will not apologize for ranking Duke high. Stop disrespecting my boys with your brand name bias and stigma. The ranking system I use is automated, but requires a lot of manual input of data, so I try to limit the iterations I let it run in. The ranking works by assigning each team both a score and a tier. The tier is simple, based simply on the number of losses. Within a tier, a team gets a score based on ranks and for losses, rank of opponents, Vegas, and W-L upsets. Estimates are also calculated for top performers of each tier to see if they may be better than team in the tier above. W-L takes priority over everything else and creates a phenomena I called adoption, where teams with a HTH in a tier may adopt a team if the opponent who lost has a higher within rank score, creating certain limits. Basically functions like classic inheritance in computer programming. All of this is then optimized through SCF for rank consistency with iteration, though this is rarely to cycle limits. Finally, I occasionally intervene through direct challenges between teams where extended HTH of minimal distance is considered to directly compare teams. Since this is tedious with my current build, I only do so if something appears truly egregious and have time.

They are undefeated. No one else is. To the B1G championship game against #5 Pennsylvania State University! |
2 |
![]() |
They barely lost to that undefeated team. Nice! On to the MWC against #3 UNLV! |
3 |
![]() |
Nice win in rivalry. Challenged above Indiana and Penn State, not to limit. Up next #10 Georgia in the SECCG. |
4 |
![]() |
HUH? Well technically they haven't been challenged yet, which might explain this. Otherwise.... one of the best teams, with a barely loss to #25 Syracuse and their opponent in the MWCCG, #2 Boise State. |
5 |
![]() |
With aOSU falling on it's head like that, they climb into the B1GCG against #1 Oregon. Hasn't challenged UNLV. |
6 |
![]() |
Failed to challenge Penn State. Resting for the playoff. |
7 |
![]() |
Failed to challenge Indiana, but did challenge Louisiana with ease. Conference lacking idiots. |
8 |
![]() |
Not this good, unchallenged from below. However, hasn't reached full potential either and did successfully challenge Army? On to the SBCCG versus #22 Marshall. |
9 |
![]() |
Basically being dragged along with Notre Dame. Would probably collapse at a challenge from most below it. Up next AACCG against #20 Tulane. |
10 |
![]() |
Embarrassing game. Up next a rematch against #4 Texas in the SECCG. Challenged tOSU and and SMU successfully. Full potential unknown, limit unreached in challenge. |
11 |
![]() |
Lol. Lmao even. Anyway, still in the playoff as they sit-out the B1GCG again. Challenged SMU successfully. |
12 |
![]() |
Defeats Cal with ease, going with momentum to the ACCCG. |
13 |
![]() |
Successfully challenges BYU but no ACCCG for them. Instead #33 Clemson gets it. Huh. |
14 |
![]() |
Destroys rival to go from last to first and onward to the Big XII CG. |
15 |
![]() |
Defeats Vandy... no SECCG for these sinners. Hasn't challenged to potential. |
16 |
![]() |
By defeating Houston, they fail to make it in. |
17 |
![]() |
Defeats rival to win the state. Underrated as heck, but this probably overrates them. Would probably fall a few if anyone underneath challenged. Still a great resume. |
18 |
![]() |
Fails a challenge Tennessee, but did get a good dub in Farmageddon. Up next #13 ASU in the Big XII CG. Hasn't challenged Duke. |
19 |
![]() |
Defeats a pile of s*** in the Egg Bowl. Hasn't challenged to potential. |
20 |
![]() |
Defeats Tulane with ease to climb back in to #19. Fails to challenge to Iowa State. |
21 |
![]() |
Dies to Memphis, but climbs into the AACCG against #8 Army. |
22 |
![]() |
Defeats Northwestern. Hasn't challenged to potential. |
23 |
![]() |
Get screwed by BYU's dub. Did challenge their way in and above Syracuse. Nice job Buffs! |
24 |
![]() |
Defeats JMU in a thriller to secure a ranking and a SBCCG slot against #9 Louisiana. |
25 |
![]() |
Hasn't challenged to potential. Climbed up after Syracuse emergency challenge failed. This is the limiter on Alabama, who failed to win challenge against Baylor. As of now, Alabama, SCar, Mizzou and Clemson are kept out, and I am too tired to initiate further challenges after being forced to move Louisiana up instead of down. |
