FlashSpider-man Ballot for 2023 Week 9

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 22, 2023, 11:10 a.m.

Overall Rationale: My opinion, mostly. Bias: I go to Tamu and grew up an ASU fan. I try to base off results, not preconceived talent, though I can fall for it. Trying to put a weight on wins, though it can be hard in some cases. And I don't know g5, so I am only gonna put them of they make something the week before. I may be weird with them. Feel free to @ me on reddit, I'd love to talk about it.

Rank Team Reason
Michigan Wolverines Dominating
Ohio State Buckeyes Beat a good Penn State team. Whether they were good wins or not, they've beaten multiple highly ranked teams. Due to Georgia not dominating their opponents. OSU jumps to 2. If them and Michigan take care of business (Michjgan still has PSU as the only challenge, though anything can happen), the Game could legit be 1 v 2, which would be really fun.
Georgia Bulldogs
Washington Huskies Desert voodoo travels now? 😈😈😈 Fr though, they barely beat a bad ASU team. I was rooting against them, though now that we are past that game, I can say I'm rooting for UW the restof the season. Get back on it and win it all. The game was too late for me to watch, but Dillingham is the man and maybe ASU can be good in a few years? (Heard that one before, ik :( .)
Florida State Seminoles Pulled away late. Didn't get to watch it. Was too busy being depressed by baseball.
Oklahoma Sooners Last undefeated p5 team. Ultimately, all 6 are pretty close and different variations can be argued.
Texas Longhorns So close! I had so much hope! Darn it.
Oregon Ducks Side note: every top 20 Pac 12 team has multiple ranked opponents still to play. It's gonna be a dogfight and the conference could very well still cannibalize itself this year. Hopefully people see the talent and a team can still make the playoffs. It's gonna be intense.
Alabama Crimson Tide Hey, I've seen this one before. Down by a touchdown at the half, turns it on in the second. Again. I guess when you have a great coach, you make good halftime adjustments. It took a minute for them to get there, but I do think this team is better than last year's.
Penn State Nittany Lions PSU offense looked awful. Their qb kept missing passes. Ultimately, they get to stay in the top 10 because they faced OSU, and their defense kept it close. They need to figure something out quick if they want to save their season. Two weeks to tune up and then they play Michigan.
Ole Miss Rebels Only winning by one score vs both Arkansas and Auburn is not a good look. Keep playing like that and we might upset you in two weeks. I'll leave them here for now
Utah Utes Good win vs USC. Still playing tough despite all the injuries. I think I read Cam Rising is out for the year, which is bad. At least Barnes looked good, though it was against USC's d. I managed to catch the end of the game.
Oregon State Beavers If you lose this next game, I will break something.
North Carolina Tar Heels Wow. A stunner. The definition of a trap game. Playing at home against a really bad UVA team, getting shocked. Ultimately, they've played well all season for the other games. They deserve to be in the upper grouping of 1 loss teams. They drop to 14 probably just due to how fresh this is. How does ACC championship work? As long as they can make it and face FSU, season is far from over.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
LSU Tigers
Air Force Falcons Undefeated team. Their only 1 score final was against a good Wyoming team. Playing well.
Missouri Tigers 1 loss team who has dominated these last two weeks. Sure, they had some struggles against g5 teams early, but have done great in conference play, besides their loss to LSU. I think they should be above the next three teams, though it can be debated.
USC Trojans That's two losses in a row, after an ot game against u of a. Because the Pac 12 is crazy, season isn't over, but they got their work cut out for them, with UW, UO, and UCLA on their schedule. Damn, the Pac 12 is stacked this year.
Duke Blue Devils Lost to a good FSU team, yes, but by multiple possessions. Not great. But big game vs Louisville coming up.
Louisville Cardinals I know, a one loss team this low. I think the last p5 1 loss team, if I didn't miss anyone. That Pitt loss just stings. But maybe they deserve more credit for the ND win right before it. Don't think they've been that strong in some other games, though, like NC State, IU, and GT. So here they are. I was really debating if they should be above Duke. If only there was a way to decide, like playing a game of football... oh wait. This should be a fun game.
UCLA Bruins I had them on the list last week. Since then, they have rolled over Stanford.
James Madison Dukes Decided that, at this point in the year, all undefeated teams make it. Even if they've had some way too close calls with bad teams. (Hey, UVA just beat UNC)
Liberty Flames See 23
Florida Gators Considered a few teams. Tulane struggled. OSU ruined a Big XII team getting the spot, practically single handedly. Ultimately, this came down to Florida or Tennessee. I've been lower than others on UT for basically the whole year. Their resume, in terms of game results, is very similar, though I haven't looked at stats. A loss to a top 15 team and a loss to what is probably currently a top 30 team. Ultimately, there is one difference. UF beat a top 30 team, who I have at 26. UT has no good wins. So the game that sets them apart is their head to head. UF should be higher than UT. If you disagree, tell me why.
