Muffinnnnnnn Ballot for 2022 Final

Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: Wins and losses matter. Same record with a head-to-head win means you have to go ahead. The exception here is, like always, in the Pac-12 where everyone beats everyone and it's always a jumbled mess. Utah is getting away with that loss to Oregon due to their Pac-12 Championship. Honestly, I don't feel much like writing up a huge analysis since this is the final ranking and the season is already over. However, I want to touch on a few things. It's crazy to me as an FSU fan that so many people have us ranked ahead of Clemson. They have a better record, won the ACC, and beat FSU. It quite literally makes no sense if you look at the resumés. Of course, I understand the idea of "but they'd win today" and sure, I think FSU COULD beat Clemson if they rematched today, but they don't and the game happened and FSU lost. Tulane is in the top 10 where they have belonged for the vast majority of this season. Nice of the rest of the cfb world to finally catch up on that ;). What else? Tennessee ahead of Bama because Tennessee has a better resumé and also beat Bama head-to-head. I spent an absurd amount of time deliberating between UTSA and Mississippi State at the #25 slot. UTSA is #26 for sure tho, no hate to the Roadrunners. Texas Tech very quietly had 8 wins this year with the win over Texas placing them one spot ahead of the Longhorns. Also, this is covered by the beginning like always, but all 4 of the top 4 teams had head-to-head matchups pretty much, and the results ended up exactly like the order I had. Georgia beat TCU and OSU, TCU beat Michigan, Michigan beat OSU. Seems pretty straightforward to me. Sadly, it's the offseason now. Here's to a great remainder of the academic sports year and a great 2023 football season in the fall!
