Overall Rationale: This is a predictive ranking system. Only scores of games and home/away locations are used. Losses against FCS opponents are counted, wins are not. It re-generated each week from 0 and then iterated until ratings stabilize, so past weeks' results are reevaluated from the perspective of the current week. Numerical scores for each team represent how many points above or below average they are. Subtract scores to get an estimated spread between two teams, with 3 points given to the home team. Preseason rankings are included for stability and wear off over the season. This early, preseason rankings prop some teams up, and unbalanced schedules or outlier results can create unusual or counterintuitive results.
