Dawg-Bite Ballot for 2022 Week 6

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 2, 2022, 2:23 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Dominant Performances, Quality Wins, Resume, Losses, Results matter, HEAD 2 HEAD MATTERS, and eye test.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Bryce Young got injured mid game, but Bama still ended up dominating a borderline top 25 Arkansas team despite a slight scare. Bama has looked dominant recently and now has two decent wins with Texas and Arky.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State really hasn’t beaten anyone worthwhile so far but they’re looking more dominant than the Dawgs rn.
Georgia Bulldogs UGA has issues with the run game, O-Line, D-Line, and overall just stopping the run. I would have them lower but a 49-3 win over #11 Oregon in my rankings gives them the benefit of the doubt.
Clemson Tigers Clemson was neck in neck with USC in my rankings before this week, but they now have wins over #17 and #13 in my rankings. They have looked improved and even dominated NC State last night despite the game looking closer because of a garbage time score.
Michigan Wolverines Michigan’s win over Maryland looks more impressive and they dominated Iowa in Kinnick which is hard to do no matter how good of a team you have.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Oklahoma State is now one of two teams to win every game by more than one possession and now have an impressive road win over a borderline top 25 Baylor team to add to their resume.
Tennessee Volunteers My opinion hasn’t changed on Tennessee but they did fall 4 spots. My only reason is their win over Pitt to boost their resume just isn’t good anymore. The teams ahead of them now have more impressive wins.
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss honestly should have lost but they found a way to get key turnovers and won. Idk what to think of them rn but a win over top 15 Kentucky and being undefeated deserves a top 10 ranking for now.
USC Trojans USC just doesn’t have an impressive win rn and they’ve looked suspect the past two weeks.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State struggled in the rain but remain undefeated and now have a top 25 win over Purdue to add to their resume in my rankings.
Oregon Ducks Oregon dismantled a borderline top 25 BYU team and found a way to beat #24 Wazzu. A 49-3 loss to UGA does not represent how good this Oregon team is, and if they played that game again I feel it’d be closer.
TCU Horned Frogs TCU is undefeated and looked completely dominant over a borderline top 25 Oklahoma team. I almost put TCU top 10 but didn’t because I’m hesitant on just how good the Oklahoma win actually is. Maybe I’ll put em there if they beat Kansas.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Wake now has a great win over #19 Florida State and took the #4 team to two OTs.
UCLA Bruins UCLA dominated Washington and proved that maybe they aren’t as bad as I might have thought. I still don’t want to rank them too much higher until they can get another impressive win. They get an opportunity against Utah next week.
Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky’s best win is Florida, but I don’t want to fault them after losing to Ole Miss because of turnovers. Turnovers might be part of the game but honestly Kentucky might’ve been the better team yesterday.
Utah Utes Utah destroyed Oregon State but I kept them behind Kentucky due to Kentucky beating the same team Utah could not, even if I believe Utah could most likely beat Florida now.
NC State Wolfpack NC State has a good win over a borderline top 25 Texas Tech team and gave #4 a fight. They moved up a spot despite losing but I don’t think they should be rewarded too much for it.
Kansas State Wildcats Kansas State now has two wins over borderline top 25 teams in Oklahoma and Texas Tech. The only blemish on their record is a Tulane loss. However, I believe the Kansas State team from the past two weeks is probably the team that would show up against an elite team rather than the team that played Tulane.
Florida State Seminoles Florida State stays at their same rank from last week. They lost but I feel they deserve to be ahead of LSU due to head 2 head.
LSU Tigers LSU hasn’t looked impressive but they have the head 2 head over Mississippi State.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Mississippi State had a dominant win over Texas A&M and they only look like they’ll get better from here.
Syracuse Orange Syracuse has been suspect but now they have a win over #25. Plus they’re undefeated.
Kansas Jayhawks Kansas doesn’t have any impressive wins to me. I still ranked them since they’re undefeated but I need to see a statement win before they go any higher. Good thing they got TCU next.
Washington State Cougars I saw a Washington State fan say that they were “an almost 3 and out away from being 5-0” and honestly I can’t argue with that so I ranked em.
Purdue Boilermakers I was originally gonna put Minnesota here because they beat Michigan State in a more dominant fashion than Washington and Maryland (who were the other teams I considered for this spot), but Purdue now has a head 2 head win over Minnesota and despite them not having the same record I feel results should matter. BYU was also considered for #25 but honestly I just don’t think they’re all that impressive.
