Overall Rationale: 26-30: Baylor, James Madison, Florida State, Washington State, North Carolina. Tried to get JMU in this week, but couldn't do it over LSU or Miss State. Thought about leaving Baylor in two with both losses coming to ranked team, but they get spot 26 and likely won't be out of the rankings for long.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Past two weeks are a little concerning, wondering if the Stetson Bennett magic has been figured out a little. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, the next two weeks shouldn't be too challenging. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Kind of respect the fake punt, flex on 'em. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Responded well after giving up 23 straight points... defense worries me and not sure what this team is without Bryce. |
| Clemson Tigers | I firmly believe my #4 team in the country is underrated. Not enough people talk about them as a legitimate title threat like they have the top-3. The defense is good and the offense is miles better than last year. |
| Michigan Wolverines | I was dreading the thought of having to rank Iowa... Corum is a really nice back. Not sure if the team is dramatically better though with JJ at QB. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Idle... Tough test (maybe) on the road at LSU this week before Bama. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Impressed with the defense more than the offense, Big12 schedule doesn't let up though. |
| USC Trojans | Did what they had to against a conference bottom dweller. |
| Oregon Ducks | The Bo Nix experience is an interesting one. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Debuting in my top25 (Finally!), the only reason I had the Rebels out was due to not playing a P5 opponent. Played a really good game against a strong Kentucky team. Dart's arm may be a little too powerful for him to handle as he had some bad overthrows, but I was pretty impressed overall. Defense showed up too. |
| Utah Utes | Dominated a good Oregon State team, very impressed with this performance. Big three game stretch coming up |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | A really poor performance offensively. Think Allar should have got some playing as Clifford didn't impress. The first big challenge in two weeks against a good Michigan defense. |
| Kentucky Wildcats | Not a big fall for the 'Cats. Played well, specifically the defense, and Levis looked good. |
| NC State Wolfpack | Clemson is just that good. FSU will be another test next week. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | Utter domination against OU offense really exposed the Sooners defense. Brutal next three weeks of conference play. |
| UCLA Bruins | Beat a really good UW team. A pair of top-15 matchups coming, so the offense and (shaky) defense will be tested big time by some good offenses. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | Thought they may have had a hangover from the OU game, but K State came out and took care of business. Martinez looks really good. |
| Kansas Jayhawks | Another debut team in the Top25. The offense struggled against a good Cyclones defense. I'm still not entirely convinced this is a top-25 team, but they've earned their spot heading into a Gameday matchup against the Horn Frogs. |
| BYU Cougars | Pulled away from USU, but overall not impressed with this. |
| Washington Huskies | Schedule won't get too difficult for a few weeks. Could have a good shout at a NY6 game if they take care of business. |
| Wake Forest Demon Deacons | Good win and offensive performance against a ranked team. Defense worries me, giving up almost 400 yards in this one. |
| Syracuse Orange | A dream 5-0 start for the Orange and the stay in the Top-25 will last for at least two more weeks as they are idle next week. Bad part is the 6 game stretch after, which very well good leave them 5-6 after it. |
| Cincinnati Bearcats | Defense took care of business in the second half to put Tulsa away. Perhaps my most controversial team. |
| LSU Tigers | Actually the last team I put it, but they beat Miss St so I put them a spot ahead. They've played well since the brutal loss to FSU. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | Beat down a ranked team and Mike Leach with some top tier advice after. Tough three game stretch coming up, but like the Bulldogs against Arkansas next week. |
