kamiller2020 Ballot for 2022 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 19, 2022, 8:17 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Curse you Kansas St., I had y'all at 15 and you lose to Tulane. Another week, another #4 team in the country. I don't think I've had the same team at 4 for the entirety of the season, but I feel really good about Oklahoma staying here for a while. I have questions about everybody below 4, and concerns about everybody below 9. It's still a bit too early to make definitive statements about everybody as we approach IMO the first prove-it week. We're gonna learn a lot about the PAC-12, ACC, and the Group of 5 NY6 contenders. Also sidenote: I still believe in TAMU and Miami to be contenders for NY6 bids. And I think Florida, Oregon State, and LSU can have solid seasons. There are only 25 spots though and somebody has to get cut off.

Rank Team Reason
1 Georgia Bulldogs The difference between Georgia and the rest of the country is absolutely absurd right now. I don't think I can recall a team this early in the season that looks so much better than the rest of the competition. The offense is incredible, the defense might be BETTER than last year's. Stetson might be a legit Heisman contender. The only teams I see that MAYBE has a fighting chance of a competitive game on the Bulldogs schedule is the stretch from Nov. 5th to Nov 19th. where they host Tennessee and then travel to Starkville and Lexington. And they'll probably demo those schools as well. It's 3 weeks and I don't see the #1 team in CFB changing at all for the rest of the regular season.
2 Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State has an improved defense, and that's a scary prospect. We knew the offense was high powered, Stroud and those WRs torched Toledo(it's a good sign when 3 WRs have 100 yards and none of them at JSN). But the defense made it difficult for a really solid Toledo team to move the ball. They gave up some big plays, and that has been a bit of a theme. But from the little I've seen, this is a team with the capability of really doing damage in
3 Alabama Crimson Tide This wasn't the greatest game we've ever seen from Bryce Young. But the special teams was ELITE, and that might win them a national title if it continues to play to the level it did Saturday. Though it seems Alabama fans still hate BOB.
4 Oklahoma Sooners The defense has taken the next step and DG is as good as I thought he was. Venables has this group playing physically and finishing tackles. The offense is looking more consistent and Gabriel is playing his best football. This is looking like a playoff team, we just needs to see them play a team with a pulse and it looks like a couple are coming up on the schedule(damn you Kansas State for not making this a top 15 game)
5 Michigan Wolverines Michigan has played the 2nd best of anybody in CFB. They have the 2nd easiest schedule in the P5. There's a LOT to love about what JJ McCarthy and the offense doing. The defense is flying all over the field. And they've played 3 teams who might COMBINE for 6 wins this year. We will learn a bit more about each side of the ball the next 2 games(the defense will be tested by Maryland, the offense by Iowa.) But we won't see this team need to play a complete game until Oct. 15th.
