Reigning national champs showed no reason to dethrone their #1 position against Georgia Tech. |

I think Duke is a better win that Georgia Tech, but it's certainly not enough to move Bama ahead of Clemson... yet. |

Beating a divisional opponent on the road (I mean, was that really a road game?) to open the season is good enough for me to keep them #3. |

The Crimson & Cream Offensive Machine has a new conductor, but keeps rolling. The defense looked better, but was still sloppy at times. I think Houston has a chance to win the AAC, so I am chalking this up as a decent win for now, and enough to keep OU at #4. |

FAU was probably the weakest opponent of the Top 5, but Ohio State took care of business. I see no reason to move them from the #5 spot for now. |

They dominated Georgia Southern. |

Solid win against Louisiana Tech. |
8 |

I'm skeptical about Auburn being a Top 10 team, but they deserve credit for beating Oregon at a neutral site. |
9 |

Struggled, but Louisville also looks better than they were last year. |

Great defensive performance over a rival. |

I really have no idea where to put the Aggies. I feel like they have the talent to be a Top 10 team, but they always seem to end up with 4 or 5 losses each year. So maybe they're more of a Top 20ish team? But prior years are irrelevant for this poll, so I'm going to place them just shy of the Top 10 for now based on talent alone. |

I know it was Idaho, but what a performance by Penn State's defense. I was low on the Nittany Lions coming into the season, but I think I was wrong. I'm buying the Lions now. |

I'm a little surprised at the yards Eastern Washington put up against the Huskies, but it was a good win against a good FCS team. |

For playing against an over-matched opponent... that new offense seemed to have a lot of mistakes.  |
15 |

Just a good old-fashioned beating of South Florida. |
16 |
![]() |
Not going to get too much praise for slaughtering FAMU, but I think #16 is fair for UCF for now. |
17 |
![]() |
Dominant defense, but a rather pedestrian offense. |
18 |

So I thought losing Gardner Minshew would hurt the Cougars, but it looks like Anthony Gordon is the real deal. |

Ugly win over Miami. I'm not sure Miami is any good.. and I'm not sure Florida is either now. I know it was a rivalry game against a P5 team, but this should have been an easy win for Florida. |
20 |

Northwestern is not a bad team, but the win wasn't super impressive either. I'm not sure Stanford is a Top 20 team, but I feel comfortable putting them at #20 for now. |

Seemed like a pretty slow start against a not-very-good FCS team. |

I always have a tough time ranking a winless team in the Top 25, but I think a little credit should be given for playing a team like Auburn in Week 1. Especially when it took some late-game heroics by the other team for you to lose. |

Wow, what a game by the Broncos. On the road at FSU in that swamp-ass weather with a huge comeback win. I see you Boise State. |
24 |

Tigers offense didn't seem as good as last year, but they also had a lot of self-inflicted penalties. The defense seemed a lot better though. |

I truly think the Bears are a Top 25 team. They handled their business against SFA like you'd expect a Top 25 team to do. My on the bubble teams are: Oklahoma State, Syracuse, Nebraska, and Army. |
