hypercube42342 Ballot for 2019 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 3, 2019, 7:06 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Business as usual atop the rankings
Alabama Crimson Tide Duke hung in there for about a quarter against Alabama. That's as much as they could muster. I foresee another Alabama-Clemson playoff game this year (what a surprise).
Georgia Bulldogs Solid win against Vandy.
LSU Tigers LSU took care of business against an inferior opponent, showing a substantially better offense than I expected from them in the preseason. I saw more from them than the two teams they jumped in my ballot.
Ohio State Buckeyes There were some first-game jitters, and I didn't feel that they played as well as LSU or Georgia, but they played pretty well under a first-year head coach. Good win.
Oklahoma Sooners I'm not entirely sold on this team being as good as previous years yet. I didn't see much in Houston that made me think they were a good team, and while OU did dominate the game, they didn't wow me entirely. I don't see a serious test for this team until Texas, so we'll see then how good this team truly is then. That being said, them dropping in my rankings was not a function of them being bad, so much as LSU being good. There is a large gap between 6 and 7 here.
Michigan Wolverines Michigan was... fine... against MTSU. They maintain their rank, barely.
Texas Longhorns Tom Herman can blow inferior teams out! One of the largest margins of victory of the Tom Herman era, and Texas beat the spread. Texas jumped a spot in part because of the blowout, and in part because of Florida's uninspiring performance.
Florida Gators Miami is a good team to pick up a win against, but they looked terrible in doing it. They fell one spot in my rankings this week, and I'm not sure I expect them to be so highly ranked at the end of the season.
Utah Utes Utah had a solid win against BYU. It's never all that easy to win a rivalry game--even against a team like BYU--especially on week 1. Good week for them.
Texas A&M Aggies
Washington Huskies
Auburn Tigers
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
UCF Knights
Penn State Nittany Lions
Wisconsin Badgers
Washington State Cougars
Virginia Cavaliers
Syracuse Orange
Stanford Cardinal
Iowa Hawkeyes
Michigan State Spartans
Oregon Ducks
Oklahoma State Cowboys
