Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Sept. 17, 2018, 8 p.m.
Overall Rationale: Started from prior weeks poll and then moved teams based on the results of the week.Dropping out of my Poll this week were the following teams with their prior week rankings: #19 Boise State, #22 Arizona State, #23 HoustonNew Teams this week -#21 Oklahoma State, #22 Duke, #25 Iowa
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Alabama stays 1. They destroyed Ole Miss and could have beat them by 100 if they wanted to. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | Georgia beat MTSU by a wide margin. Not enough to jump Bama, but no reason to drop either. |
| Clemson Tigers | Same as above. Clemson beat Georgia Southern by a wide margin. Not enough to jump Georgia, but no reason to drop either. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Oklahoma held off Iowa State, but wasnt impressive enough to make them jump up |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Ohio State moves up to 5 based on their win over TCU. The game was closer than the margin made it look, but OSU is still deserving of a top 5 spot right now |
| LSU Tigers | LSU with a big jump up to 6 after beating Auburn. They have a ton of talent and finally a competent offense. This LSU team can make some noise this year |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Not really sure how to feel about Notre Dame. They've struggled the past couple of weeks but they still keep winning. Hard to drop them too far until they lose. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Penn State moves into the top 10 with a couple other teams dropping out. They've looked strong after their week one scare |
| Stanford Cardinal | Stanford jumps into the top 10 as well with some other teams dropping out. Theyve had a string of impressive wins and are deserving of being up here |
| UCF Knights | UCF missed out on another P5 game with UNC this week. This really would have shown us who this UCF team is right now. They still are a top 10 team to me, but I wish they would have played this game. |
| Auburn Tigers | Auburn drops because the lost, but they cant drop too far. They lost to a really good LSU team and have already won against a strong Washington team. They still have a shot with their remaining strength of schedule. |
| Washington Huskies | Washington's only loss so far is to Auburn, and they handled a tough Utah team at Utah this week. |
| TCU Horned Frogs | TCU did lose this week, but they hung with Ohio State for most of the game and I think they proven that they have the talent to compete with the big dogs |
| Virginia Tech Hokies | Virginia Tech didnt play this week. So nothing really to say about them |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | Mississippi State continues to look strong. We'll see if that can last through the SEC buzzsaw.  |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Wisconsin lost a heartbreaker to BYU this week. Wisconsin is still a strong team, but a weaker schedule for the rest of the season means their title hopes might be gone.  |
| West Virginia Mountaineers | Another team with a canceled game this week. Nothing to add. |
| Miami Hurricanes | Miami wins again with a wide margin, but ill hold off on moving them much until they start playing stronger competition again |
| Michigan Wolverines | Same explanation as Miami above.  |
| Oregon Ducks | San Jose State is stronger than their record looks, but Oregon still really hasnt played anyone yet. We'll see how they look with Stanford this week. |
| Oklahoma State Cowboys | Oklahoma State makes a strong Debut in my poll. They absolutely dominated a Boise team that I was strong on. They've looked really good so far. |
| Duke Blue Devils | Duke has reeled off 3 good wins in a row over Army, Northwestern and Baylor. They look strong this year |
| Colorado Buffaloes | Am I overrating Colorado a little bit? Yeah probably. But I see them as strong contenders in their side of the PAC-12 until proven otherwise.  |
| Texas A&M Aggies | Everyone knows that Texas A&M is only in the top 25 because they played such a close game with Clemson. If they can hang with Alabama, they might stick. If not? They probably drop our which is tough with 2 good losses, but still. |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | Theres probably a lot of teams that belong in this 25 spot, but I give the nod to Iowa as they are 3-0. They havent had the strongest schedule so far, but the win over NIU was nice and I think they have a talented team |
