T-Thugs Ballot for 2018 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 17, 2018, 11:53 a.m.

Overall Rationale: I look at each team's resume and re-evaluate my rankings each week. For this reason, my poll swings wildly from week to week early on in the season as teams have major changes in accomplishments. Also, I don't really account for teams that I think are good that just haven't played quality competition yet (Like an Oklahoma). I'm generally on the controversial list early because I have good teams who haven't played quality competition ranked lower and teams that may not be expected to be as good but have quality wins early ranked highly. As the season goes on and those resumes become more full, my poll starts to look more like the others.

Rank Team Reason
LSU Tigers Wins over both Miami and Auburn give LSU the most impressive resume so far this season. I do think Alabama is still probably the best team, though.
Alabama Crimson Tide Laid an absolute beatdown on Ole Miss this weekend. Most impressive. They look unbeatable so far. I think they're the best team in the country but have a hard time ranking them above LSU based on LSU's resume.
Ohio State Buckeyes Buckeyes got a nice win over a tough TCU team to go with their whooping of the bottom of the p5 in weeks 1 and 2.
Georgia Bulldogs
Notre Dame Fighting Irish 3-0 with a nice win over Michigan.
Clemson Tigers 3-0 with a nice win over Texas A&M.
West Virginia Mountaineers 2-0 (game cancelled this week) with best win over Tennesseee.
California Golden Bears Cal is 3-0 with a win over BYU, which looks much better after BYU went into Madison to beat Wisconsin.
Kentucky Wildcats 3-0 with win over Florida.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Big win over Boise State this week.
Stanford Cardinal 3-0. Win over USC looks a little less impressive this week, so I moved them back a little. Have major showdown with Notre Dame in 2 weeks.
Mississippi State Bulldogs 3-0, nice win at Kansas State. Chance for a second quality win this week with game against Kentucky.
Syracuse Orange Not quite sure what to make of Syracuse. They absolutely beat down Florida State this week, but FSU stinks. They've also laid whoopings on a couple other weak teams. They should be undefeated going into their matchup with Clemson.
Penn State Nittany Lions After a shaky week 1, Penn State has looked good since, crushing Pitt and Kent State. They've got a huge game with Ohio State in two weeks that could determine the Big Ten East.
Duke Blue Devils 3-0 with wins over Baylor, Army, and Northwestern.
Oklahoma Sooners Tight game with Iowa State this weekend. Haven't really played anyone good yet. They play Texas in a few weeks.
Iowa Hawkeyes 3-0. Big matchup with Wisconsin this week with major Big Ten West implications.
Virginia Tech Hokies Win over Florida State looks a little less impressive now than it did. Game cancelled this week. They play old dominion this week before they really get into their schedule. They have Duke and Notre Dame in the two weeks after that and can really prove themselves there. I think this is a much better team than 18th, but its hard to put them much higher with their current resume.
Minnesota Golden Gophers 3-0. Best win is over Fresno State.
Auburn Tigers Auburn is a better team than 20th and will continue to move up my poll as the season goes and more teams get losses. They are currently the only team with a loss I have in my poll, though.
Boston College Eagles 3-0. Best win is over Wake Forest.
Colorado Buffaloes 3-0, no good wins really though.
Oregon Ducks 3-0, no wins worth mentioning. They play Stanford this week and have a big chance to move up.
Washington State Cougars 3-0, no big wins yet.
Indiana Hoosiers 3-0, but no big wins yet.
