noahthearc Ballot for 2018 Week 4

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 16, 2018, 4:17 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide No Change. Alabama looks as close to perfect as any team I've ever seen.
Georgia Bulldogs No Change. The Bulldogs look second best, but the gulf between them and Alabama may be insurmountable.
Clemson Tigers No Change. The Tigers lose one of their QBs, but good thing they have two legitimate starters. They cruise again and start conference play next week.
LSU Tigers +6 spots. LSU has the best resume of any team so far. Neutral field win over Miami and now a road win at Auburn...the Tigers may not be a playoff team at the end of the season, but they're acting like one right now.
Ohio State Buckeyes +8 spots. I finally have Ohio State in the top 5 after they get a signature, tough-fought win in Arlington.
Oklahoma Sooners +1 spots. Perhaps not the most impressive win, but a win nonetheless at Iowa State. The Sooners get their revenge and look a potential playoff challenger in the post-Baker era.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish -1 spot. The Irish are winning, but there are some serious questions starting to form. The first three games have been in the safety of South Bend, now they have a road test at Wake, let's see how they do.
Penn State Nittany Lions No Change. Penn State has rebounded from their early season scare with App State. Illinois next week shouldn't be much of an issue, but with Ohio State on the horizon they could lose some focus.
West Virginia Mountaineers No Change. They didn't get to play, but I'm high on West Virginia. Next week starts conference play when Kansas State comes to Morgantown.
Stanford Cardinal +1 spot. Others have Stanford higher and they have gone about their business in the early season, but with no flare. Their signature win over USC is now looking mundane.
Auburn Tigers -6 spots. Auburn has a great win over Washington and a tough loss to LSU. They still have a promising team and the year ahead of them.
Oklahoma State Cowboys +9 spots. The Cowboys shoot up the rankings after a quality win over Boise State. No one below can claim undefeated status and a quality win like the Cowboys.
Mississippi State Bulldogs +3 spots. The Bulldogs benefit from chaos around them. They look a solid team that could cause some chaos themselves in the SEC West.
Virginia Tech Hokies -2 spots. Some inertia from having a postponed game, but the Hokies signature win now looks as good as a win over an FCS team.
TCU Horned Frogs -1 spot. A tough loss near to home against Ohio State this week, but TCU proved their a team to watch in the race for the Big 12.
Washington Huskies +1 spot. Washington continues to rise after they started their conference slat in the Rockies against Utah. They need to run away with the Pac-12 if they want their name in the conversation for the CFP.
UCF Knights +1 spots. No game, no problem. UCF inches up in the ranking as others fall ahead of them.
Miami Hurricanes +2 spots. The Canes are getting back in form after their disappointing start. Although that opening loss looks more and more reasonable every week.
BYU Cougars Not Ranked. Trip to Madison? No problem. BYU has won both their road matchups and has a field goal loss to Cal. Maybe they're ranked too high, but they earned some respect last week.
Wisconsin Badgers -16 spots. Losing at home to BYU...this hurts their playoff chances.
Duke Blue Devils Not Ranked. Duke has been under-the-radar with wins over Army, @ Northwestern, and @ Baylor seem to signify that this team could actually surprise some in the Coastal this year. Virginia Tech comes to town in two weeks.
Boston College Eagles Not Ranked. The Eagles look good as they took down Wake Forest in their house. How high can the Eagles soar?
USF Bulls No Change. Not convincing in Chicago, but a win nonetheless for the Bulls.
Colorado Buffaloes Not Ranked. The Buffs beat their rivals in their house and have continued to win. The Pac-12 South is up-in-the-air and Colorado wants to get back to the Pac-12 Championship Game.
NC State Wolfpack -10 spots. With the first few weeks over, their high preseason rankings (from me) hasn't been matched by on-field play, so I brought them down to earth.
