Ballot Type: Computer
Submitted: Nov. 11, 2024, 3:59 p.m.
Overall Rationale: This ballot is really screwy... The ranking system I use is automated, but requires a lot of manual input of data, so I try to limit the iterations I let it run in. The ranking works by assigning each team both a score and a tier. The tier is simple, based simply on the number of losses. Within a tier, a team gets a score based on ranks and for losses, rank of opponents, Vegas, and W-L upsets. Estimates are also calculated for top performers of each tier to see if they may be better than team in the tier above. W-L takes priority over everything else and creates a phenomena I called adoption, where teams with a HTH in a tier may adopt a team if the opponent who lost has a higher within rank score, creating certain limits. Basically functions like classic inheritance in computer programming. All of this is then optimized through SCF for rank consistency with iteration, though this is rarely to cycle limits. Finally, I occasionally intervene through direct challenges between teams where extended HTH of minimal distance is considered to directly compare teams. Since this is tedious with my current build, I only do so if something appears truly egregious and have time.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|

Defeats Utah in a controversial Holy War, but it seems the call was legit. Up next a solid but cursed Kansas team. |
2 |
![]() |
Defeats a solid UNT in a defensive and offensive grind. Very beautiful. Up next... rest. [Not sure why my poll is so screwed up this time. Unfortunately I have no time to run the multiple correction framework.] |
3 |
![]() |
Defeats Michigan in a grindy game. Up next... rest. |
4 |
![]() |
Solid win against Maryland. Up next Wisconsin. |
5 |
![]() |
Not a great win against Nevada, but they are tough. Up next a solid SJSU team. |
6 |
![]() |
Up next South Alabama. Defeats others with ease. Again, only loss is a close one to Tulane so perhaps not this high, but definitely Top 15 in my books. |
7 |
![]() |
Defeats Purdue with ease. Up next, Northwestern. |
8 |
![]() |
Defeats Washington with ease. Up next Purdue. |
9 |
![]() |
Solid defeat of Utah State. Up next UNM. |
10 |
![]() |
Defeats Hawaii in a nailbiter, but unlimited by 'cuse climbs back due to solid performances all around. Up next San Diego State. [Added by Syracuse virtue. They are solid.] |
11 |
![]() |
Defeats Florida with ease. Up next Arkansas. |
12 |
![]() |
Gets first loss against Georgia Tech. You love to see it. May that wretched city be erased from the Earth. Now may rest. |
13 |
![]() |
Defeats Georgia! Up next rest. |
14 |
![]() |
Close win against UCF. Up next a game a Kansas State that determines if the KSU blockage at the top keeps going. [No clue why they are so loved all of a sudden.] |
15 |
![]() |
Rested, facing Boston College next. |
16 |
![]() |
Loses to UVA as well. Quite embarrassing. Inertia keeps it in. No easier for the team as they face Clemson, then Louisville next. |
17 |
![]() |
Defeats a terrible Mississippi State team. Up next, an angry Georgia. |
18 |
![]() |
Defeats FSU with ease. Up next Virginia. |
19 |
![]() |
Rested. Up next Stanford. |
20 |
![]() |
Defeats NCSU to win another rivalry game. Up next Virginia Tech, which I hope to beat because of all those traitors. [Two 1-loss losses and an okay loss to GT.] |
21 |
![]() |
Loss to Kansas is very embarrassing. Up next a surprisingly strong Cinci team. |
22 |
![]() |
Rested. Up next NMSU. |
23 |
![]() |
Rested, faces Troy next. One not terrible loss to Boise State and another to Ole Miss isn't that bad, but the caliber is terrible along with an egregious one to ODU. I wouldn't rank them. |
24 |
![]() |
Defeats Southern Miss with ease, Coastal next. Much more inexplicable ranking. |
25 |
![]() |
Rested, up next MIchigan State. Minnesota limiter gone. [Omissions: Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Colorado, Kansas State, LSU, Mizzou, Tualne. This is way too many to accept, but oh well. The collapse of Georgia (#27) limits Clemson (#29) as well. LSU (#33) is overrated. KSU (#36) was explained last week with Houston loss, limiting Tulane (#37) and Colorado (#38). Alabama (#26) has low points for poor early season performances, limiting Mizzou (#30). As a whole, this basically destroyed the rankings.] |
