quantum_jedi Ballot for 2024 Week 3

Ballot Type: Computer

Submitted: Sept. 9, 2024, 2:03 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Wins and losses are weighted by the difference in "rank" between the winner/loser and the median team. Scaled such that beating strong teams matters more than beating weak teams, and losing to bad teams is worse than losing to strong teams. Winning is weighted slightly more than losing. Preseason rankings are weighted by returning production, talent composite, and previous season success.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Cruise control for Georgia.
Texas Longhorns Dominant win over Michigan. Looked good in all phases.
Ohio State Buckeyes Another easy win this week and should be the same next week.
Alabama Crimson Tide Close call against USF. Next week's game against Wisconsin could be more interesting than anticipated.
Tennessee Volunteers Crushed what should be a decent NC State team.
Missouri Tigers Still haven't allowed an opponent to score. BC looks to pose a bigger test for the Tigers.
Miami Hurricanes Took care of business. Unclear when the Hurricanes will meet their first real test.
USC Trojans Trojans are a much more complete team with Lynn running the defense.
Penn State Nittany Lions Escaped Bowling Green with a win. Should have a "get right" game against Kent St after the bye to try and correct a number of issues.
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss continues to roll over weaker opponents. Seems to be a theme for a lot of top teams this year.
Utah Utes Controlled the game against Baylor until Rising got hurt, then went into cruise control. The schedule gets much tougher soon, so hopefully Rising's injury isn't serious.
Oregon Ducks Squeaked by for the second straight week. Oregon needs to start playing up to their potential and not down to their opponents.
Oklahoma Sooners Oh boy that was ugly, but a win is a win.
Kansas State Wildcats Escaped against Tulane. Should be a terrific match up against Arizona next.
Louisville Cardinals Looking good so far. We're going to learn exactly how good this Cardinal team is over the next few weeks.
Oklahoma State Cowboys OK State continues to sneak by, but hasn't lost. Gundy teams tend to get better so this could be a promising sign for the Cowboys.
Michigan Wolverines Oof that was rough. Michigan needs to figure its offense out fast (or just run the triple with Orji).
Clemson Tigers Absolute butt-kicking against App State. Great way to rebound after being flattened by Georgia. Everything is still on the table for the Tigers.
Arizona Wildcats Sloppy game against NAU. Next two games will be tough for the Wildcats.
Nebraska Cornhuskers Dominated Colorado in a game where the score does not reflect how good Nebraska was.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Wow, that was bad...
Washington Huskies Huskies took care of business against EMU. Slow start that could be a problem against teams with stronger offenses.
Syracuse Orange No idea how good this Syracuse team actually is, but Fran Brown has turned things around quickly for Cuse. Very easily could be 5-0 going into their game against NC State.
Iowa State Cyclones A classic Assico. Cleared what seems to be their biggest test of the early season and should be favored for the majority of the rest of the season.
Boston College Eagles Is Boston College actually good? I don't know, but they are looking like they could be a contender in the ACC. Big test against Mizzou next week.
