Rcfan0902 Ballot for 2024 Week 3

Ballot Type: Computer

Submitted: Sept. 9, 2024, 2:33 a.m.

Overall Rationale: - There are no preseason rankings. Every team in the FBS starts the season with 0 points. - The winner gets +100 points, while the loser will get -100 points - The current matchup is processed, giving the team extra points based on their opponent's record and the margin of victory - After each week, each team's previous games are re-processed and extra points are given based on how their past opponents have performed up to the current point in the season. This also takes in to account if a team beat or lost to that opponent and how badly they won/lost. Because of all teams starting on equal footing, the first few weeks will give seemingly outlandish results and teams can jump up and down the rankings wildly. This all starts to settle down a few weeks into the season. Based on past results this poll is usually pretty close to the national polls at the end of the year.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Ole Miss Rebels
Tennessee Volunteers
Texas Longhorns
Missouri Tigers
UCF Knights Most likely because they blew out their opponents 57-3 and 45-14. Also helped by the fact that they beat Sam Houston, who beat Rice
USC Trojans
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Arizona State Sun Devils
Texas State Bobcats Not quite sure how they are this high. Most likely because they blew out an undefeated UTSA.
Washington State Cougars
Washington Huskies
Utah Utes
Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks Similar to Texas State, most likely because they blew out an undefeated UAB
Oregon State Beavers
Pittsburgh Panthers
Penn State Nittany Lions Tied with South Carolina at 329 points
South Carolina Gamecocks Tied with Penn State at 329 points
Illinois Fighting Illini
Kansas State Wildcats
Northern Illinois Huskies
Oklahoma State Cowboys
San José State Spartans Tied with Syracuse at 319 points
