Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Oct. 15, 2023, 8:50 p.m.
Overall Rationale: My opinion, mostly. Bias: I go to Tamu and grew up an ASU fan. I try to base off results, not preconceived talent, though I can fall for it. Trying to put a weight on wins, though it can be hard in some cases. And I don't know g5, so I am only gonna put them of they make something the week before. Feel free to @ me on reddit, I'd love to talk about it.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Michigan Wolverines | They've played no one, really, but they have dominated. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | They were struggling early. They may be back to rolling again. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | |
| Washington Huskies | Close game against UO. Really wish I could have watched it instead of the garbage I was stuck with. I've been high on then all year and now they have a strong w. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | 5-7 feels like it could be in any order. But they have the best win. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | |
| Florida State Seminoles | |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | These are the 8 undefeated p5 teams. Feels like a clear top 8 to me |
| Texas Longhorns | |
| Oregon Ducks | Close loss against a really good UW team. Still looks very good. Imo this is a pretty clear top 10 |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | |
| Ole Miss Rebels | |
| Oregon State Beavers | |
| Utah Utes | |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | A 2 loss team this high? But one loss was a really close game against OSU. Killing USC really wipes the mind of the bad Louisville loss. They did a great job getting pressure and rattling Caleb Williams. |
| Duke Blue Devils | |
| USC Trojans | Caleb Williams was off. The pressure got to him and he made bad decisions. To add to this, their defense hasn't looked good at all recently. They've had multiple weeks being closer than it should have been against bad teams, then getting wrecked by a good team. They don't look good |
| LSU Tigers | Another 2 loss team. They've lost against 2 good teams, and the Mizzou win does work. Tbh, I just think from here down is a different tier than the top 17. |
| Missouri Tigers | I know, 19 is high. But I have reasons. This list is about to become a mess of hot takes, in all likelihood. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | I've been low on Tennessee for a while. After watching them for a full game, I still am. The best team they have faced is Florida, who beat them by 13. SC is a good win. They've had a tough schedule. But we aren't a good win. I will say, they ran the ball really well against us, which is impressive. With that being said, if you play our second half offense, which is garbage, and only win by one score, that is a problem. I don't think this Tennessee team is that good. Though I'd love for them to prove me wrong this Saturday. |
| Louisville Cardinals | Awful, awful loss. They threw away any momentum from the ND win. On one hand, great win there. On the other hand, losing by multiple possessions to this year's Pitt team and only beating this year's IU by one score is not good. They are still a one loss team, but I don't think they deserve top 20. |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | Assuming I can read correctly, this is the last p5 team with 1 loss. So here they are. |
| Air Force Falcons | Undefeated g5. I don't know g5 but I don't see anything that bad quickly looking at game results. Plus, they beat a Wyoming team that I've noticed. They deserve it here. By comparison, the other g5 undefeated teams: JMU only beat UVA by 1 point, who is at least a good measuring stick. Liberty only beat Sam Houston by one score (sad Sam Houston is doing so bad. I like them. But, unfortunately, they suck this year). For that reason, neither of them make it yet. Keep winning and they will. If there is something I don't know, @ me. |
| UCLA Bruins | These last 2 feel like a new tier below the above 23. Both 2 loss teams. This may be Pac 12 bias, but quality losses are putting in the work and they haven't lost to a currently unranked team. I mean, I put Oregon State and Utah at 13 and 14. |
| Florida Gators | I've rewritten this like 5 times, as I keep changing my mind. And no one even reads this anyways. Why do I spend my time on this? But, I chose UF, a weird choice. First off, I don't know g5. If I just look at box scores, only beating UVA by 1 point or only beating Sam Houston by one score is concerning. Neither JMU or Liberty seem to have been dominating or anything based on end score, at least. From there, I considered a few other two loss teams. Ultimately, Florida has the best win of a team that didn't get blown out by a team I hate with a passion that seems to be half decent ugh (Side Note: 3 loss teams better not be getting any votes here). The win over UT gets them here. Next week, winner of Clemson Miami may likely take this spot. |
